Prince Andrew has reportedly been left feeling "furious" after finding out he could be banned from wearing Knight of the Garter robes at King Charles' upcoming coronation.
Andrew, 63, may not be allowed to don the ceremonial robes, which signify his position as Knight of the Garter, at the coronation in May, with Charles, 74, said to be currently deciding what his younger brother should wear.
Andrew was banned from wearing the traditional robes at Queen Elizabeth II's final appearance at the Garter Day procession in Windsor last year, after stepping back from Royal duties due to a sex abuse scandal.
The dad-of-two paid a reported sum £12m to his accuser Virginia Giuffre in an out-of-court settlement after denying her claims that he sexually assaulted her when she was 17. He has always vehemently denied the allegations.
Charles' coronation, set to take place on 6 May, will be a 'Collar Day', meaning Knights of the Garter can wear their ceremonial robes, but due to Andrew's scandal he may not be permitted to wear his.
An insider has revealed that the Prince was left "completely in the dark" over his outfit for the coronation, despite others being told what they will be wearing well in advance.
The royal insider told The Mirror: “Andrew is furious. He’s already not playing a part and now he feels he is being disrespected and dictated to over something he is fully entitled to (wear)."
The reports come after Andrew's ex-wife Sarah Ferguson recently revealed she's yet to receive an invitation to Charles' coronation.
The 63 year old Royal, known by her nickname Fergie, spoke about her potential attendance at the Coronation during an interview on Monday night to promote her new historical novel, A Most Intriguing Lady.
The Duchess of York, who shares daughters Eugenie, 32, and Beatrice, 34, with Andrew, said that her attendance at the historic ceremony in May was “TBD” – shorthand for ‘to be decided’.
In the sit down with US Glamour Magazine editor Samantha Barry, at the event hosted at 92NY in New York, Fergie discussed her close bond with the Queen and how she was caring for the late monarch's surviving corgis.
And asked if she had been invited to theKing's Coronation on 6 May, she joked it was “TBD”, before adding: “The invitations haven't gone out yet. Have they?”
Fergie did not seem too concerned about the lack of an invitation, however.
She said: “Well, I've decided the best thing about being British around a Coronation – although I've never been to one – I think we should, I should set up a tea room at the bottom of the drive with bunting and cakes."
