Gemma Atkinson’s daughter Mia cradles new arrival Thiago
Gemma Atkinson tearfully admitted “I can’t bear it!” as she shared the details of how members of her family are adjusting after baby number two.
The 38-year-old’s partner Gorka Marquez is currently away from home, so her mum Sandra – a dead ringer for the star – has moved in to help after her caesarean section.
Her two beloved elderly dogs, Ollie and Norman, have relocated to stepdad Peter’s house as she can no longer lift them up the stairs post-birth – and the deeply emotional star has recalled the first time they met Thiago.
Heart-wrenchingly, her canine companions are now advanced in age and struggle with some simple things.
“They were smelling everywhere and I was like here, ‘He’s here, he’s here,'” she explained on Instagram.

“Ollie’s got cataracts, so he was bumping into him and they couldn’t really see him but when he cries, Norman goes to the cot and goes ‘Woo, woo’ underneath,” she continued.
Lamenting that “four years in dog years is a long time”, she elaborated that the experience was different to when they first met her daughter Mia in 2019.
Dog ageing varies depending on the breed and size of the dog, but the website Vets4Pets.com suggests that four years for a dog could be equivalent to at least 26 years of human life.
Gemma made it clear that she hasn’t abandoned her beloved pets, explaining alongside footage of the black Spaniels eating from their bowls: “They’ll be back when Gorka’s home.”

She added that they’d return full-time when she is “okay to lift them up the stairs and in the car, because they can no longer do that themselves”.
Last year, in the very early stages of her second pregnancy, Gemma defended herself against internet trolls over a video of her with her sister’s bulldog.
“I’ve been told I’m cruel this morning for having a dog in the family that ‘clearly can’t breathe’,” she wrote in view of her 1.9 million followers.
She continued: “They have no idea and probably don’t have a dog themselves anyway!
“He’s a happy, healthy boy and the only issue he’s recently had is a food allergy. People are absolutely very quick to judge, especially when they can hide behind a screen.”
However, she did agree with one fan who asked if she “felt bad for” bulldog breeds with “squashed noses”, cautioning that it “takes a very responsible owner” to have one.
“Their breathing and skin needs monitored more than other breeds,” Gemma reflected.
Meanwhile, the Hits Radio UK star will soon be sharing unseen details of her pregnancy in a new show named Gemma and Gorka; Behind The Lens.
Gemma teased that it “covers everything pre and postpartum” and that it will air this summer on W and UKTV.
