Geordie Shore favourite Marnie Simpson and her "soulmate", Union J singer Casey Johnson, finally tied the knot in a rustic barn wedding that was only three-months in the making.
During our post-nuptial chat, the 31-year-old newlywed tells us she "didn’t have time to organise" dresses for her bridesmaids – resulting in her opting to simply have one man of honour instead. But Marnie reveals she had seven bridal options waiting in the wings for her big day.
The star wore a stunning Galisa Grace dress with a cut-out bodice and matching veil – the first of three gowns she wore on the day – as she walked down the aisle to meet Casey, taking the arm of her step-dad Eric as she heard Boyce Avenue’s I’ll Be begin to play.
After their first kiss as Mr and Mrs Johnson, they exited the barn to cheers from the crowd and headed to their drinks reception, where guests mingled and toasted the happy couple.
It was then that Marnie and Casey took the opportunity to pose for some gorgeous photos, and later, as we joined in the celebrations, we did a double-take when we noticed that Marnie was no longer wearing the same dress.
But why did she have so many different gowns on standby?
"Because the dresses were so white, I worried about holding the baby and getting sick on me, or someone spilling a drink," she says.
"I took loads of reserves just in case."
The first dress was the most traditional of the gowns, but she says the second ruffled number with beaded gloves was "without a doubt" her favourite.
"It was very me, but it’s my type of fashion that no one really sees, because it was quite vintage. My family always joke that I should have been born in the 20s, because I love everything about that era.
"That dress reminded me of that. I bought it before we even had a date and I didn’t think I would get married in it, but I just knew I wanted it involved in my wedding one day.
"At the time that I bought it, I couldn’t even fit in it. I was a lot bigger. I couldn’t even get it past my bum."
Commenting on her decision to ditch the idea of bridesmaids for her wedding, Marnie adds: "It was a lot of added stress and I didn’t have the time to physically source them, make sure everyone was comfortable, and get them fitted.
"I didn’t actually feel any different not having any bridesmaids. I thought everyone was really relaxed and looked beautiful. I’m happy with my decision."
And In true Geordie Shore style, the then party kicked off after the meal with a bang, with Marnie making another dress change into her third of the day – a short "sexy" number from House of CB.
Reflecting on her big day, Marnie laughs: "It’s always so fun when any of the Geordies get together. At one point I think I forgot I was at my wedding – I felt like I was just on a night out. It was like Geordie Shore all over again.
"It got really wild at the end; this always happens whenever the Geordies are in town. Things just get messy!"
