Harry and Meghan cheer at Canada ice hockey game as Christmas plans are in disarray

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were seen jumping and cheering from the stands as they watched an ice hockey game in Canada, all while their family Christmas plans are up in the air.

The royal couple watched the Vancouver Canucks and the San Jose Sharks play during the first period of an NHL ice hockey game in Vancouver, on Monday, 20 November.

It appeared to be an intense game as the duo were snapped watching intently in one snap, and jumping up cheering in another.

Prince Harry was even invited to do the ceremonial puck drop and kick off the match, something which his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, has previously done.

Queen Elizabeth II threw in the puck to start an ice hockey match between Aqua City Poprad and Guildford Flames at the stadium on the second day of a tour of Slovakia in 2008.

Meghan and Harry are currently in Canada to promote the next Invictus Games, which has been confirmed will be held in Vancouver and Whistler in February 2025.

Their trip to Canada follows as their family Christmas plans are currently in the air as they reportedly haven't received an invitation to spend Christmas at Sandringham with the rest of the royal family.

Royal insiders have claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would not reject an invitation to spend Christmas at Sandringham, but that they are yet to receive one.

Traditionally, members of the Royal Family gather at Sandringham House in Norfolk for Christmas, but since relocating to America, Harry and Meghan have not attended a Royal Christmas since 2018.

A royal insider told The Times: "I can't imagine the Sussexes would decline an invitation to spend time with His Majesty. As of yet, there have not been any invitations for the holidays."

A source also revealed to OK! that Harry is missing spending the festive season with his relatives and the plans surrounding the festive season are causing some tension between Harry and Meghan.

They claimed: "He used to say that nobody could celebrate Christmas like the Windsors. He experienced that festive togetherness for his entire life until his move to America and he really misses it.

"The Christmas plans are causing a bit of tension because he’s fed up with being away from everyone during key milestones."
