After almost an entire day of bizarre online speculation, a representative has spoken out on claims that Harry Styles may have spat at Chris Pine when they attended an event together on Monday night.
The pair were just two of the stars at the much-anticipated Don’t Worry Darling premiere in Venice, and with rumours of a feud circulating, all eyes were on the interactions between the actors, director Olivia Wilde – who is also dating Harry – and leading lady Florence Pugh.
The red carpet saw Harry, 28, and Olivia, 38, remain apart. Meanwhile 26 year old Florence, who skipped the press conference just hours before citing scheduling issues, wasn’t seen posing solo with her co-star or director.
Once inside the event, the cast were seen making their way to their seats when, fans claimed, video footage showed Harry appearing to spit towards Chris, 42.
Despite the fact Chris is visibly calm and doesn’t react to the incident, some people still insisted it took place – sparking the Wonder Woman actor’s representative to finally issue a response.
Speaking to Variety, they said: “This is a ridiculous story — a complete fabrication and the result of an odd online illusion that is clearly deceiving and allows for foolish speculation.
“Just to be clear, Harry Styles did not spit on Chris Pine. There is nothing but respect between these two men and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create drama that simply does not exist.”
Harry’s representative is yet to address the confusion.
Don’t Worry Darling, Olivia’s second directorial effort, has been at the centre of plenty of headlines, despite the fact it's not even out yet.
The movie was initially due to star Shia LaBeouf opposite Little Women’s Florence, but he was replaced shortly after production was underway.
There has since been debate over his exit from the movie, with the actor disputing Olivia’s claims he was fired.
Meanwhile, rumours of a feud between Olivia and Florence have been brewing, despite the actress-turned-director’s bid to rubbish them.
Speaking at the Don’t Worry Darling press conference on Monday afternoon, she said: ‘Florence is a force; we are so grateful she is able to make it tonight [to the premiere] despite being in production.”
Addressing the feud “gossip”, she added: “The internet feeds itself. I don’t feel I need to contribute to it. It’s sufficiently well-nourished.”
