In a new episode of her ‘Let’s Talk With Heather Dubrow’ podcast, the ‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ star responds to claims that she’s using her son to ‘create a story on a show.’
AceShowbiz –Heather Dubrow is hitting back at people claiming that she used son Ace’s transition for fame. “The Real Housewives of Orange County” star defended herself in a new episode of her “Let’s Talk With Heather Dubrow” podcast.
“I saw [people commenting that] talking about my son was [a way] to remain relevant or to create a storyline on a show,” the 54-year-old star told listeners in the Thursday, March 9 broadcast. “Neither of these things are true. They are the farthest thing from the truth.”
The Bravolebrity, who also shares twins Max and Nick (18) and daughter Kat (16) with her husband Terry Dubrow, went on noting that she would never “leverage” her children for “content.” She stressed, “It’s really all about protecting my kids … physically and emotionally.”
The “That’s Life” alum continued, “It became apparent we needed to say something. What our goal was is to acknowledge who our incredible son is and show how much we love and support our child.”
In the episode, Heather also addressed accusation that she’s “hiding” her son. “There are other people who want to tell your children’s stories’ for them so … something had to be said by us before someone else made a statement,” she explained. The reality TV star got emotional as she told listeners that she will continue to “protect” her kids and “fight for their safety and their rights and their freedom.”
Earlier this month, Heather announced that Ace came out as transgender with a touching tribute for her child. “It’s International sons day! We love you, our youngest son, Ace,” she gushed over the 12-year-old. “Our job as parents is to give our kids a safe and supportive environment so they can grow up as healthy, happy, confident, independent humans.”
She went on writing, “Since Ace is a 12 year old child, with a long life ahead of him – we will let him tell his own story someday if he chooses to do so. All we can say is Ace, we love you so much and we are proud to be your parents. Your brother and sisters love and support you too.”
