Holly Willoughby has reportedly asked bosses at ITV to begin contract negotiations amid reports of a rumoured “rift” between her andThis Morning co-hostPhillip Schofield.
The ITV co-stars, who have hosted the daytime show together since 2009, were first hit by rumours of a rift earlier this week withPhil releasing a statement about his “difficult few weeks” following reports that he and Holly were"barely speaking" off-camera at the moment.
And now, according tothe Mirror, 42 year old Holly has asked her team to contact ITV bosses in an attempt to speed up any decisions being made about their futures on the show as their friendship reportedly hits the rocks.
“Holly was considering her position on the show earlier this year,” a source told the publication.
Of Phil, the source continued: “But that is now a real possibility and she wants to see a decision made on both of their futures quickly.
“That is what is behind Holly asking her team to reach out to ITV – she is trying to move things forward.”
The source added that Holly allegedly sees her distancing from Phil as a potential opportunity to be able to rebrand herself as a “woman’s woman” and that she could present the popular daytime show with Alison Hammond – who is another regular presenter on the programme.
Meanwhile, 61 year oldPhil’s contract is reportedly coming up for renewal in September, meaning Phillip's final show could be as early as July, when he and Holly take their annual summer break if TV bosses decide against renewal.
OK! has contacted representatives for Holly, Phil and This Morning for comment.
Phil and Holly were once known for their close relationship andeven enjoyed regular holidays together with their families. Phil also famously described long-time pal as his "rock" when he came out as gay live on This Morning in 2020.
Since the reports of their “rift” emerged,Holly has been pictured for the first time during an outing in Hampshire where she looked downcast and deep in thought earlier this weekend.
The mum-of-three was pictured gripping her phone in her hand as she walked down a busy street while wearing a Chloe trench coat and a crossbody bag by Gucci on Saturday (May 13).
To finish off the look, Holly kept things casual yet trendy as she opted for a pair of straight leg blue jeans as she tucked her icy blonde blocks into her cream fleece.
