Hollyoaks star Jeremy Edwards reveals he’s struggling to ‘get a job’ after quitting show

Former Hollyoaks star Jeremy Edwards has admitted to finding it difficult to find work 24 years after leaving the popular Channel 4 soap.

Jeremy first jumped onto UK screens back in 1995 as Kurt Benson, a conman and attempted murderer who was married to Terri Dwyer’s Ruth Osborne for a time

.Jeremy remained in the soap until 1999, when he faked his death but has popped back up for smaller appearances in 2013 and 2020.

And besides a few odd appearances in other popular UK shows, Jeremy has struggled to find acting work, which he opened up about on social media last week.

On Saturday, as Gary Lineker clashed with the BBC over his opinions on social media, Jeremy took to Twitter to rule out taking over Gary’s job on Match of the Day.

"I’d like to confirm I will NOT be on the @bbc today. Or @itv. Or @Channel4, @channel5_tv or @SkyUK," he wrote in the post, which has since received over 200k views.

Many fans took to the comments to wish Jeremy the best while making some suggestions for potential future projects.

After one fan suggested joining EastEnders, Jeremy replied: “I’ve never even had an audition for @bbceastenders I’d love to be a baddie…. Been the nice guy for too long (Obvs I’m delightful in real life!).”

“@bbceastenders I could stay at home so I could be with the kids. Not sure I could stay away from the fam for @itvemmerdale_life is too short. Priorities,” he added.

Other fans suggested he join the future cast of I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, to which he argued, “I used to a Celeb, get me onto here” (So I can be a celeb again).”

Other suggestions were not so serious, with one putting forward the idea of creating an OnlyFans account.

“My son has a minimal YouTube channel about Minecraft if you're interested,” another fan wrote, with someone else adding, “Magic Boys Benidorm maybe looking for a new member.”

The former Celebrity Big Brother contestant, who competed on the third season of the show against Caprice and Lisa I'Anson, has also appeared on shows like Holby City, where he played Danny Shaughnessy from 1999 to 2003.

Jeremy has also worked on a number of stage shows and X Factor: Celebrity, where he was in a singing duo with Strictly Come Dancing’s Brendon Cole.
