The 17-yea-old high school graduate, who is under the sole custody of her sister, Pumpkin a.k.a. Lauryn Efird, shares the emotional moment with her mom in the latest episode of ‘Mama June: Family Crisis’.
AceShowbiz -Honey Boo Boo a.k.a. Alana Thompson couldn’t help but get emotional after sharing her first hug with mom Mama June’s (June Shannon) in “about 5 or 6 years.” Overwhelmed by joy, the teenager broke down in tears during a family therapy session.
“I just feel like my mom should be there on graduation,” the 17-year-old said in the latest episode of “Mama June: Family Crisis”. She added, “And I feel like she should be there for my prom and she should be there for the little moments in school … just the little senior activities I have.”
Alana, who is under the sole custody of her sister, Pumpkin a.k.a. Lauryn Efird, lamented feeling left out with her other classmates because they have their mothers to lean on. “Everybody in school is like, ‘My mom, my mom, my mom,’ and I always have to say, ‘My sister.’ I don’t want to have to say that,” she said.
Mama June reached out to Alana after being encouraged by the therapist to comfort her daughter. Addressing the special moment in a confessional, Alana explained, “This is the first time Mama’s actually really gave me a hug in probably about five or six years.
“It feels good to get an actual loving hug from your mama,” the former “Toddlers & Tiaras” star further elaborated. She then added, “It really did feel nice, I’m not gonna lie.”
Alana and Mama June’s relationship appeared to be in a much better place after being strained for quite some time. In fact, Mama June came to support Alana at her high school graduation back in May.
Sharing a video from the ceremony, Mama June wrote on Instagram, “I’m so proud of her she is our 2023 graduate.” The 43-year-old went on to gush, “And yes we was hollering the whole time WTG LANA.”
