Tom Cruise and James Corden surprise Lion King audience as Timon and Pumbaa
The British star has made friends with many of the stars who have graced his sofa on the Late Late Show, including many of the Hollywood elite, including Tom Cruise.
James Corden’s friendship with the Top Gun actor has certainly been adventurous, from daredevil stunts to enjoying lavish get togethers.
Express.co.uk delves into the pair’s bromance as we take a trip down memory lane from birthday celebrations to landing helicopters.
The Gavin and Stacey star, 44, previously shared how Tom Cruise, 63, went to extreme lengths to give him his phone number so they can “stay in touch”.
The Late Late Show host, who has recently stepped down from the role, recalled how he was invited to present at an awards ceremony where the A-list actor was being honoured.
The comedian told Howard Stern on his SiriusXM show in 2019: “His publicist got in touch and said he was being honoured with a big filmmaker’s award in Vegas.”
A couple of days later the presenter arrived at his office in Los Angeles and was greeted by balloons and a surprise package to say thank you.
He recalled: “In conference room one was a massive amount of balloons that said ‘thank you’ and a box.
“I opened the box and there was a cake in the shape of a telephone with all these odd symbols on the dial. Then in an envelope was a dictaphone and it said ‘press play’.
“It says, ‘Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to work out the code and call the number on your cell phone. This message will self-destruct in five seconds’.”

After several attempts James managed to get Tom’s number, the pair spoke and they have become good pals ever since.
Their friendship even extended to the Hollywood star asking James if he could land his helicopter in his “yard” as the pair made dinner plans.
It comes as the pair realised they were both in the UK at the same time in 2021.
Their budding romance doesn’t stop there as the pair opted to jump out of a plane together.
When Tom made an appearance on the Late Late Show in 2021, the Oscar-nominated actor told the host that he jumped from a plane at an altitude of 25,000 feet for his role in Mission Impossible and the conversation ended in a challenge.
Despite several attempts to run away, James successfully manages to jump out of the plane.
Meanwhile, in July last year, Tom celebrated his 60th birthday with a star-studded party in the UK.
The Hollywood heavyweight was honoured with a lavish bash at Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire on Saturday where guests included Simon Pegg and Benedict Cumberbatch.
James took to the stage to make a speech where he referenced scenes from some of Tom’s biggest scenes including a cheeky sex party quip.
In reference to Tom’s iconic shirtless scene in Top Gun, James quipped: “He pioneered the way we play volleyball in pants and no shirt.”
In a nod to the star’s erotic thriller Eyes Wide Shut – in which Tom infiltrates an underground sex group – James added: “He pioneered the way we attend secret sex parties.”
The pair have also shared a number of comedic moments together, including a Late Late Show skit where they paid tribute to their bromance with the poignant track “Can You Feel The Love Tonight.”
