Comedian Jason Manford revealed to his fans that his beloved nan Leah passed away just months before hitting the milestone of 100.
The 41 year old shared a tribute to his nan on Twitter during the early hours of Friday morning where he shared a sweet clip of them both singing Nat King Cole songs together and called his late nan “inspirational”.
In an emotional message, he wrote: “Goodnight Nana Manford, we were so lucky to have you in our lives for so long. 99 years of wonderful moments & incredible memories.
"Even when dementia took hold, she loved music. Whether making cardigans for kids or bullets for Lancaster bombers, she was an inspirational woman."
He completed the heartfelt message with a heart emoji.
Fans and friends of Jason rushed to send their support along with their condolences.
Comedian Sally-Anne Hayward wrote: “Sorry for your loss Jason xx”, while radio presenter Dan Morgan simply sent a red heart.
One fan offered their support and said: “Sending love and support to all of you at this sad time”, while another said: “So very sorry to hear of the passing of your dear Nana Manford. Heaven truly has gained a very special angel. Deepest condolences, thoughts and so very much love to you and your family at this sad time. Rest In Peace Nana Manford xxxxx”.
Jason had been keeping fans updated on his nans health journey and shared his concern in March after she was rushed to the hospital.
Jason spoke openly about his nans dementia and said on Twitter: “'Unfortunately she's still in the hospital. Everyone is doing everything they can to get her home but she's just stopped eating (even when given a box of her favourite chocolates for Mother's Day!)".
He added: "Not sure why, she says she wants to come home, knows that eating will help this, but for whatever reason, maybe her dementia, she just won't eat."
However, just days later, his beloved nan took a turn for the better as he announced she was on the mend and will be returning home.
The comedian shared: "She is doing much better. They get to a certain age, and they stop eating and drinking so we just had to get her in and on a drip but she's feeling much better.
"She'll be back home in the next couple of days. It was a real turnaround, it didn't look like it was going that way. She turns 100 in December and she's desperate to get there so it was a bit worrying."
