It appears that the billionaire philanthropist and her second husband, former science teacher Dan Jewett, have settled money issues before she filed for divorce.
AceShowbiz -Money isn’t going to be an issue in MacKenzie Scott and Dan Jewett’s ongoing divorce. It appears that the couple, who separated after less than two years of marriage, has settled the matter before she filed for divorce.
According to legal docs obtained by TMZ, MacKenzie and her estranged husband Dan have signed a “separation contract.” Details of the agreement are not disclosed, but it appears to detail the division of their assets.
The New York Times previously reported that MacKenzie filed a petition for divorce in the King County Superior Court in Washington State on Monday, September 26. Court records show Dan did not contest the divorce.
The filing also notes that they have a prenuptial agreement, agreed by both parties, which is not made public. They are both still living in King County, which includes the city of Seattle, the filing says.
MacKenzie announced she married former science teacher Dan, who was an instructor at a prestigious school attended by her children, in a letter posted on the Giving Pledge website on March 6, 2021. In the same year, the pair pledged a vast amount of their fortune to charity.
“I am married to one of the most generous and kind people I know – and joining her in a commitment to pass on an enormous financial wealth to serve others,” Dan wrote in his message on Giving Pledge last year. “I look forward to the growth and learning I have ahead as a part of this undertaking with MacKenzie.”
However, signs of their marital issues recently emerged as Dan’s name vanished from her philanthropic endeavors. His letter, in which he pledged to give away his money, also no longer appears with hers. Moreover, MacKenzie, who is a novelist, has deleted Dan from her author bio on Amazon.
MacKenzie’s second divorce comes less than four years after her split from Jeff, who is currently the second-wealthiest person in the world, following 25 years of marriage. She walked away from her marriage to Jeff with nearly $37 billion in settlement, pledging half to charity.
