Jonnie Irwin hints at return to work sharing ‘behind the scenes’ clip
Jonnie Irwin has admitted he was left in “constant peril” during a day out with his wife Jessica and their three children: Rex, Rafa and Cormac as he feared that one of his kids might jump into a choppy river.
On Sunday, Jonnie and his close-knit family visited Jesmond Dene in Newcastle, one of the city’s beauty spots that flows into the river Ouseburn.
Along its route, the river meets a short plunging waterfall and Jonnie’s three children were recently pictured taking it all in.
Despite looking nice to the eye, a recent study from Newcastle University revealed that the level of pollution was a “significant health risk” to anyone wading or swimming in the river.
When mixed with the anxiety that either one of his brood could jump in, the former A Place in the Sun star took to Instagram to air his concern.

Alongside eight candid snaps from the morning walk, Jonnie captioned the post: “Apart from the constant peril of fearing one of the lads is gonna jump in or not hit the breaks in time, we all got home without incident and probably as wet as if we had all gone in.
“But Jesmond Dene is a special place to visit in any weather, home now for a log fire to dry out.”
Jonnie first revealed he had been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in November 2022.
Since then, he has been documenting his health journey on social media, amassing over 200,000 followers on Instagram.

The TV star has been raising awareness for lung cancer with the support of his wife Jessica, 40, and their three sons, four-year-old Rex, and three-year-old twin boys named Rafa and Cormac.
Jonnie has spoken openly about his feelings towards his diagnosis.
“I don’t know how long I have left, but I try to stay positive and my attitude is that I’m living with cancer, not dying from it,” he told HELLO!
“I set little markers – things I want to be around for. I got into the habit of saying, ‘Don’t plan ahead because I might not be well enough’.”
Despite his setbacks, Jonnie was elated earlier this month after announcing his return to TV screens.
He revealed he is returning to British TV to film a home renovation programme for BBC Morning Live in Newcastle.
Taking to Instagram to announce the news, he wrote: “So good to be back filming for @bbcmorninglive. We’ve just shot two short films about renovating your home and what to look out for.
“I think my smug smile betrays the lack of a massive commute for once and the extra couple of hours I got in my scratcher as we filmed in Newcastle Upon Tyne. I’ll let you know when they are due to go out, when I know myself.”
