Kylie Jenner at the Met Gala 2023
Julia Fox, 33, has quickly become an icon in the world of fashion, gracing the cover of multiple international editions of Vogue.
But when it comes to fashion’s biggest night, the Met Gala, the model has never received an invite and claims she doesn’t want to.
The Italian-American star told Daily Mail: “If it was about fashion I’d be there but it’s not. It’s about politics, privilege, who your parents are and how much money you make.”
Julia pointed out that there were “no trans people of colour, or even trans people” at this year’s ball, saying it has a “gatekeeper vibe”, claiming: “The Met is not exclusive, it is exclusionary.”
While she professed her adoration for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which the Gala raises funds for, she hopes to set up a rival ball to promote designers, fashion houses and people who “don’t have the same privilege” as those attending the Met.
She shared: “Me and my friends are hoping to start our own gala and help fund disadvantaged people and single mothers.
“I just want to tell people don’t aspire to be like these people [who went to the Met] aspire to be yourself.”
Julia slammed the number of “nepo babies” appearing at the Met, noting that her own gala wouldn’t have the likes of Lila Moss, who attended alongside her supermodel mother Kate Moss.
Rather, the Uncut Gems star would replace the “nepo babies” with designers and artists.

The annual Met Gala is organised by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, 73, who Julia believes should step down after 35 years at the magazine, questioning: “How long is she going to keep going?”
She blasted the publication itself claiming it needs to be “more fun and fresh” with “new energy”.
Julia also took aim at this year’s theme which honoured the late Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld.
The actress ranted, claiming Karl was a person who “upheld supremacy and imperialism ideals”.
She hasn’t been the only celebrity to speak out against the controversial theme.
Most notable was actress Jameela Jamil who shared a statement on Instagram the day.
She claimed: “Nobody has perfect morals, least of all me, but Jesus Christ we had a year to course correct here, and not award the highest honor possible to a known bigot…and everyone just decided all of a sudden we can separate the art from the artist when *convenient*.
“And it’s one rule for us and another rule for everybody else.
“Last night we relinquished our right to be taken at all seriously about anything important.” (sic)
