Strictly’s Karen Hauer relaxes after ‘gruelling’ week of shows
Karen Hauer said she suffered from burnout in the past as she opened up about her intense schedule.
The Strictly Come Dancing star was forced out of the BBC show final in 2022 after she suffered a knee injury last year.
Karen, 41, said she loves dancing but added viewers don’t get the chance to the hard work and preparation that goes into providing a good show.
Addressing her experience with burnout, the professional dancer shared: “100 per cent yes. All the time.
“When you first start rehearsals – whether it’s for the TV show or a tour – I did two tours back to back this year and I had one day off. I actually came home. I had every Monday off and it was mentally and physically exhausting.”

She went on: “We love our jobs and we love what we do. Some people would give their right leg or left arm to do what we do. But there is an intensity to it that is obviously we don’t show. We don’t show how hard it is, physically and mentally demanding it is to us.
“It’s magical on stage when you see it on stage or on TV but the work that goes into making it that easy. You almost look like you’re dancing in the clouds. It’s a lot of work.”
Karen added: “But I’m constantly making sure that I’m paying attention to everything that is happening in my body and being smart about it all the way through.”
Meanwhile, Strictly is set to return to our screens next month and the celebrity lineup has already been confirmed.
