Kate Ferdinand has been left "devastated" after her young step-son, Lorenz, moved out to live with another family.
Former TOWIE star Kate, 31, is stepmother to 44 year old husband Rio Ferdinand's three children, Lorenz, 16, Tate, 14, and Tia 11, whilst she also shares two year old son Cree with the retired footballer and is pregnant with their daughter.
But Kate has revealed that Lorenz is no longer living in the family home in Kent, after moving to a different part of the country to pursue a career in football.
Following in the footsteps of his father, Lorenz has signed for Brighton & Hove Albion under-18's team as their goalkeeper.
Speaking in her latest episode of Blended, the podcast she shares with her husband Rio, Kate said: "I don’t know if anyone knows this. He doesn’t live at home at the moment. He’s living with another family.
Rio then clarified: "Because he’s playing football."
The loved-up couple spoke of their emotional adjustment period when Lorenz moved out, as Kate got candid about it.
She said: "I was devastated when he moved out. It’s a real big thing, I was emotional. I miss him so much. We still see him twice a week but it’s taken a lot of getting used to."
On the podcast, the couple further opened up about the difficulties that they faced introducing Kate to Rio's children, who lost their mother Rebecca Ellison to breast cancer in 2015.
Rio talked of how he was "visualising different scenarios" where he would walk in and see Kate with the kids, which made him realise that everything had been worth it with her.
He spoke about Kate doing Tia's hair or cuddling with her, sharing the same sense of humour with Tate and getting Loren to open up "when he wasn't like that before".
He said: "When you look at things like that, there's a lot of the yards that have been had and been done, over this time – it's been good."
Kate smiled and agreed with him as she reflected on how far they have come.
She spoke about watching all the children playing together and said: "wow, I can't believe we're here".
Kate went on to admit that she and Rio used to "pray for days like this" and wonder "if they were ever going to come".
The pair even revealed that they used to get into bed and ask themselves if it was all "worth it" and wondered if their relationship "was going to last".
But Kate spoke of her joy that they never "gave up".
Rio then talked about how love "overrides" everything, as he sweetly admitted that love with Kate had "changed him" as he admitted "I was a different person before".
