Kayla Compton Talks Making TV Directorial Debut on ‘The Flash’ Tonight

Kayla Compton is making her big directorial debut with TONIGHT’s (May 10) new episode of The Flash!

The actress, who plays Allegra Garcia on the series, is directing her first episode of television with this episode, which is one of the final episodes of the CW show.

Ahead of the episode, Kayla opened up about who pushed for her to direct, what surprised her and directing one of the four-part finale episodes.

Check out what she said…

“I think it was surprising how much leading people the job really is,” Kayla told FlashTVNews. “The job is almost more about dealing with people, and opinions, and expectations, and wanting to do a good episode for all of them, even more so than it is actually making the project, sometimes. I was partly expecting it, but a little surprised by how much of the job was actually doing just that.”

She also revealed that co-star Danielle Panabaker was “championing me from the very beginning,” and was pushing and encouraging her to direct.

“I almost didn’t do the short [In Training], because we made it right in the middle of COVID, and I was afraid to do that. But she convinced me I should go ahead and do it, and I’m really glad I did. I wouldn’t have the opportunity that I had to direct in Season 9 if it weren’t for her, that’s for sure,” Kayla said.

There are only three episodes left of the series, ever, including Kayla‘s directorial, as part of the four-part finale event, “A New World.”

“I didn’t feel the pressure in the beginning… I think I was just really excited to have gotten an episode, and I didn’t know until we were partway through the season that I would actually be doing Episode 11. Originally, I was going to do 10, but Eric [Wallace] and I switched,” she revealed. “As it got closer, I definitely felt a lot more of that pressure. as there was an emphasis on the fact that this is a four-part finale. That’s when the pressure was really high.”

In tonight’s new episode, Iris (Candice Patton) is alarmed by Barry’s (Grant Gustin) disappearance and Cecile (Danielle Nicolet) assures her everything will be ok, but does she know that for certain? Team Flash is affected by a mysterious substance and Khione (Panabaker) develops a better understanding of what she can and cannot control. Rick Cosnett returns as Eddie Thawne.

Be sure to tune in for Kayla Compton‘s directorial debut on The Flash TONIGHT (May 10) at 8pm ET/PT on The CW.
