King Charles III is thinking about turning Balmoral Castle – the Queen's beloved holiday home – into a public museum in her memory of her seven-decade reign, according to reports.
Balmoral held a special place in Her Majesty's heart, as she spent every summer at the 50,000-acre estate in Dee Valley, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
While Charles, 73, is thought to be "slimming down" the monarchy, according to insiders, the King is considering whether Balmoral should be opened up to the public in the future.
The castle could be turned into a museum, which will be dedicated to his mother Queen Elizabeth II, who died at Balmoral on September 8.
A source told MailOnline: "Looking at the number of properties and the number of working members of the Royal Family, the King will be looking at the properties and asking: 'What value does this give to the public?'"
The reported that the exhibition in Scotland is likely to look at the Queen's lifetime in service and display some of the Royal jewellery and the outfits she wore during some of the most pivotal moments in history.
The King is dedicated to creating spaces within existing Royal buildings where people could come together to remember the Queen.

During his time as Prince of Wales, he devoted his time to restoring the Castle of Mey, the home of his late grandmother, the Queen Mother.
A source said: "Now he plans to do something similar with Balmoral. But all these things are likely to take some time."
It comes after royal expert Russell Myers, Lorraine's royal editor, told host Lorraine Kelly that King Charles has been thinking about turning Buckingham Palace into a museum.

Lorraine, 62, told Russell: "I think they should turn Buckingham Palace into a museum, I think they should."
Russell then replied: "Interestingly enough, King Charles has always been saying this.
"He's said he would want some of the royal palaces to be turned into museums because you don't need them all."
He continued to explain: "I think it doesn't really sit with the music at the moment, so it will be very interesting to see how he shifts into being a modern monarch in the current climate."
The Queen consort previously spoke of how The Queen was her "happiest" at Balmoral and "could do the things she loved".
Camilla, 75, shared: "She made a rule that she had her private time and her private passions and then her public role and I think that is very important that, you know, the diary is planned out so you know when you’re on duty and when you’ve got to do things.
“Then when she went up to Scotland in August, you know that was the moment where it was her enjoyment."
She added: "Although, she was probably working, you know with her red boxes throughout, she could have her family to stay, she could do the things she loved.”
