Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne Pinnock has shared a post on Instagram commemorating the band's 12-year anniversary. However, the post seemed to omit any mention of former bandmate Jesy Nelson.
In her Instagram post, the 31-year-old celebrated the milestone by resharing a video of herself, Perrie Edwards, and Jade Thirlwall performing together on stage. The foursome originally came together as contestants on the eighth series of The X Factor in 2011, winning the competition and subsequently achieving significant success as Little Mix.
The group attained remarkable achievements over the years, including five number one singles, seven tours, and six albums. Leigh-Anne's heartfelt message in the caption read: "My angels – Happy 12 years ladies."
While the message was directed towards her current bandmates Perrie and Jade, some fans noted that there was no reference to Jesy in the post.
Jesy Nelson decided to leave Little Mix in 2020, after nine years of being part of the group. In her departure statement, she candidly spoke about the impact that her time in the band had on her mental health.
Speaking to The Sun, Jesy shared: "Being in a girl band, you are a machine going all the time. You don't have a minute to breathe and take time out if you just need space. That was something I struggled with.”
"For me, my mental health issues were an ongoing thing while I was in Little Mix. I was struggling with my body issues, I was constantly being trolled – and I really, really struggled with it. I was in it for nearly 10 years.
"I think I was never prepared for what was to come. I didn't have social media or any of that, I was just a barmaid working in Dagenham."
According to the singer the enjoyability factor of Little Mix had well and truly dissolved by the end – "but I will say this always, your mental health is the most important thing and you only live once, so sometimes you have to stop and look after yourself.
"I needed support and help to overcome that, and there wasn’t the time while I was in the band. I don’t have any regrets because I had to do what was right for me and I will always cherish the memories I had in Little Mix."
Following Jesy’s first solo single in 2021 ,she appeared to take a swipe at the band after being accused of 'blackfishing' in her music video. Leigh-Anne found herself being at the forefront of the drama due to a fan who leaked a message that supposedly showed Leigh-Anne accusing Jesy of blackfishing.
Jesy confessed she hasn't spoken to any of her Little Mix pals since breaking away from the quartet. In 2022, the remaining trio decided to take a break and focus on their solo careers but insisted that they will be back in the future.
