Lizzo says she ‘is the beauty standard’ in Instagram video
Lizzo, 34, has been keeping busy in recent months completing her tour as well as promoting her latest album, Special.
However, the singer is regularly left to defend herself against critics who criticise Lizzo for her weight.
This has happened again, leaving the singer to take to Instagram to share a short video.
The singer expressed self-love, telling her fans that she is “God’s favourite”.
She said in view of her 13.4 million Instagram followers: “I just finished showering and doing my little routine, and you know what I realized, I am f****** gorgeous.
“I am the beauty standard. Catch up, b****!”
She wrote in the caption: “I’m sorry that my perfect face & rockin ‘body offends you… I can’t help that I’m God’s favourite.”
This comes after a Twitter message circulating online about Lizzo’s weight left fans leaping to the singer’s defence.
One person wrote: “Lizzo is a beautiful woman, regardless of her size. She’s not only a talented singer but a kind-hearted and hilarious person as well.
The shape of your body doesn’t define your character. It is your personality and how you treat others that define you. Lizzo, you go girl!”
Whilst another commented: “Even if I didn’t know who Lizzo was, I definitely would choose her just based on the photo. She looks so loving and peaceful and full of light”.
Lizzo has not let any body shamers get in her way as she took to Instagram to share a video of herself in a tiny pink bikini.
In the video, Lizzo is seen singing along to Labrinth and Zendaya’s hit track All for Us from Euphoria.
The Good as Hell artist teamed her fuchsia two-piece with cornrow braids and diamond studs.
The singer recently spoke out about how she makes sure negative comments online don’t drag down her mental health.
While serving as a brand ambassador for Dove’s Self-Esteem Project, Lizzo admitted: “Every time I see something online that hurts my feelings, I remember that the online world is not the real world.
“I control social media. Social media does not control me.”
So far Lizzo is the recipient of four Grammy awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, two Soul Train Music Awards, a Billboard Music Award and a Guinness World Record.
