Louise Redknapp has said she would back her 18 year old son heading into the villa for a series of Love Island.
The 47 year old said that although it is unlikely he would be applying for the next series of UK's most popular dating show, she would back him all the way, if that was what he wanted to do.
Charley, son to Louise and ex-professional footballer and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp, is apparently not keen to enter any time soon, however.
Talking to the Metro, Louise said: "‘We always joke and go, 'You’ll be next on Love Island Chaz', he’s like, 'Not with this belly'.
Despite going on to say she didn't think Charley would be interested in entering a show like Love Island, Louise then continued: "You know what, I’ll back my kids whatever they want to do but neither of them show any desire to be recognised and that’s why I’m quite careful I don’t show them that much on social.
"They’re their own people and it’s not something they’re asking for or wanting."
The singer-songwriter continued: "If they wanted to I would back them and absolutely say, whether I agree or not, if this is what you want to do but I can’t see that happening any time soon."
The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant then joked: "Next year there will be Chaz on Love Island and I’ll be like, great, I apologise".
Charley Redknapp would be following in the footsteps of Love Island star, Gemma Owen, if he decided to head to Majorca. It would be the second time the offspring of a footballing legend would be on the hit reality show.
Having seen Gemma win over the hearts of the nation at such a young age, Charley could be tempted to do the same.
Louise and Jamie Redknapp split back in 2017 having been married for 19 years. The two are thought to have continued an amicable relationship as they continue to parent Charley an his little brother, Beau, 13.
In the interview with Metro, Louise talked about raising both her children to achieve their goals she said:
"Sometimes I think it’s important to let kids… I’m in my industry because it’s something I really wanted and something I drove. I didn’t have pushy parents, it was very much, “mum can I go to this dance class”, and they did it because they saw a passion and I will always try to give that to my kids."
"I do spend a lot of time in traffic, three nights a week training for Beau, and obviously Jamie is brilliant, he does loads, but I try and do my bit as well."
Although we would love to see a Redknapp in the Villa, if Charley does decide to enter, we will have to wait. The 18 year old is set to head state-side for University next year.
