Louise Thompsons fiancé Ryan Libbey in mental health crash as he fears she wont wake up

Made in Chelsea star Louise Thompson has shared that her fiancé Ryan Libbey suffered a “mental health crash” and is facing his own battle with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Ryan, 31, is struggling with the disorder along with Louise, 32, after he saw her come close to death twice during labour with their son Leo last November.

Louise remained in hospital for five weeks after the birth, and has continued to endure psychological and physical health issues following the harrowing experience.

Writing on Instagram, she has now said Ryan “still lies awake” at night to check she is still alive and has had to seek therapy for his PTSD, along with her.

When a fan asked how Ryan was doing, she responded: “He had to hold the fort. He was strong, strong, strong and then some more strong and then BAM he had an almighty crash. We never actually talk about what has happened between the two of us.

"One day I would like to do couples counselling to go through how what happened shaped our experience and how it’s not our fault that things turned out the way they did. He’s so protective so probably feels guilty he couldn’t have helped me.

"Our experiences are so different. My head dealt with living through an awful experience. He had to witness everything with clear vision. He still lies awake all night to check on me, he’s worried I won’t wake up.

“(It) must have been horrible to witness what he did and be so powerless. He had no preparation for looking after a baby solo either. He had to bring him in every day to see me which caused him a lot of stress. Not a lot of lovely home bonding time like I’d imagined.”

This week, Louise opened up about her fear she has brain damage as she struggles to “move on with ‘normal’ life”.

Her post about Ryan comes after he recently admitted he was “holding on by a thread” following “alarming” test results Louise received, which caused her to be sent back to hospital.

In a post, Ryan wrote: "Just as I thought I was approaching a time period where I could focus some energy into my own therapy and healing, Louise unfortunately still struggles with various things every single day and some of those symptoms are worsening.

"We're now back at the hospital (this time private as we've been so let down by the NHS) because Louise has received some alarming blood test results.

"At this moment I don't know how serious this is, but it feels devastating to be sat outside a hospital waiting room, seven months on from Louise giving birth.

"I'm holding on by a thread, trying to work, keep business alive, earn money to support Louise and Leo, trying to keep up with my own ambitions (and failing). It's not like me to share stories like this but I feel so s*** at the moment. Maybe this unload will help."
