Earlier this month, Love Island fans swapped their plans for their sofas for the next eight weeks as they got ready for the return of the hit reality dating show.
Maya Jama returned for the tenth season and her second presenting stint as a whole new cast of islanders stepped foot in the now iconic Majorcan villa.
While – of course – the premise of the show is to find love, it just wouldn’t be Love Island without a sprinkle of added drama from all sides.
In the most recent eps, viewers have been focused on gas engineer Mitchel and musical theatre performer Molly, who were coupled together earlier in the series.
However, so far, things haven’t been plain sailing for the two, with them appearing to be on different pages about their feelings for one another. While Mitchel has been keen to get to know Molly, she has expressed her doubts in terms of seeing a future with him.
Or being with Mitchel altogether, thanks to her interest in the villa’s new arrival, basketball player, Zachariah. (Who by the way, has a famous sister – BBC Radio 1Xtra presenter, Snoochie Shy – who has actually called him out on his behaviour in the villa.)
Despite knowing Molly’s feelings about him, during Wednesday night’s episode, Mitch decided to save her from elimination and re-couple with her. Following this, he revealed to the other cast members the psychology behind his choice, and to the cameras during a confessional.
Mitch explained that he wanted to couple up with Molly again so that he could give their relationship another go, all without Zachariah – who newcomer Charlotte chose to pair up with – or the rest of the islanders knowing.
Of course, viewers weren’t quick to let this slide, and took to Twitter moments after to air their opinions on his plan, with many calling it ‘delusional.’ Plenty of fans also flocked to Molly’s defence, adding that they feel bad for her.
“Have we all just heard Mitch’s 'plan' ?? He is truly delusional no one believes you babe #LoveIsland,” one person typed as another agreed, saying: “THIS MAN IS SO DELUSIONAL I CANT… the girl literally said TO YOUR FACE “i wish a girl picked you” and SLEPT ON THE DAY BED and he’s still saying that he thinks they can get back together.”
Others also chimed in on the conversation, adding: “Mitch’s behaviour is so wild I’m starting to feel bad for Molly. Do you know how wild that is!”
As a fourth said: “I feel bad for Molly, because her repeated no's are being completely ignored by Mitch, and everyone just thinks she enjoys the attention #LoveIsland.”
