Love Island viewers sent Twitter into meltdown on Monday night as they flooded the site with memes and hilarious tweets during the live finale.
The 2023 summer series concluded with Jess Harding and Sammy Root being crowned the winners, defying bookies’ odds to pip Whitney Adebayo and Lochan Nowacki to the post for the £50,000 prize.
With Maya Jama hosting, was on hand to announce Tyrique Hyde and Ella Thomas came in third and Molly Marsh and Zachariah Noble placed fourth.
The shock results sent social media into a spin, with fans rushing to declare they would never watch the show again.
Ahead of the winners being announced, viewers were already quick to share their thoughts on the live finale, pointing out the technical blunders, Maya’s savage quips and the Islanders’ unintentionally hilarious moments.

The biggest surprise of the night was Jess and Sammy’s shock win, with the couple predicted by leading bookmakers to finish in third place.
Whitney and Lochan had entered the finale as the favourites, with Tyrique and Ella expected to place second.

One person who certainly seemed shocked by the placement was Tyrique, with fans picking up on his furious reaction to finishing third with Ella – the only couple to have been together since day one.

Tyrique had provided hilarity earlier in the show when the Islanders shared their declarations of love, with viewers picking up on the fact that he was shouting his speech.

His choice of wording drew raised eyebrows from viewers and they took to Twitter to joke abut his vocabulary and declare it was the most they’d ever heard him talk on the show.
