Love Island star brutally dumped from villa as two new bombshells wreak havoc

As the finish line looms ever closer on Love Island, it was once again time to bid farewell to one of this year’s contestants after a shocking re-coupling saw one star’s hopes for a blossoming romance end in disaster.

During Friday night’s episode, two new bombshells arrived in the villa, Keanan Brand and Rosie Seabrook and soon threw the villa status quo into chaos, as they coupled up with Claudia Fogarty and Casey O’Gorman respectively.

Yet despite the change in the couples, it was Martin Akinola that was sadly shown the door, when Tanya Manhenga, the girl he was coupled up with, decided to reconcile with former flame Shaq Muhammad.

Initially the pair had struck up a strong rapport in Casa Amor, with Tanya even deciding to bring Martin back with her to the main villa – however, after a heart to heart conversation with Shaq in which the pair both admitted they loved each other, Martin’s time in the villa was soon cut short.

As the Islanders gathered around him as he prepared to leave, the cheeky star admitted the first thing he was going to do when he left the villa was head to his nan’s house to enjoy some real food!

He also candidly admitted that he had a good time in the villa, although he “wouldn’t call it the best time of his life” given the way things had ended.

Despite being jilted by Tanya, Martin did however admit their was no bad blood between them despite any mistakes she may have made along the way.

In what was described as the “best leaving speech ever” on the show by several viewers, Martin told his fellow Islanders:

“Honestly, I feel like this was a really good experience. I won’t say the best experience of my life because it’s not.

“But it was up there with the best to be fair and as much as it was a crazy crazy experience, I would miss it from day one.

He then directly addressed the elephant in the room as he spoke about his relationship with Tanya by adding: “I have a lot of love for you lot, even though this situation had to be a bit tough on some of you people – especially Tanya.

“You did nothing wrong. Well, you did something wrong, I’m not going to lie you did some things that were wrong but I forgive you. I have nothing against you. I think you should know that.”

He then closed his speech with one final request: “Have fun guys!”

With a smile on his face and a spring in his step, the software engineer soon took his leave as he waved a final goodbye to his villa mates for the last ever time.

Fans at home were sad to see him leave, with many taking to social media to mourn his departure.

One fan wrote: “So sad to see Martin leave he was the much needed humor in the villa especially since Jessie has stripped Will of his energy #loveisland we will miss you Martin.”

Another fan also agreed, as they added: “I'm sad to see Martin go. Yes, he wanted to get in the main villa, but he was brought back under false pretences. He's actually a funny and VERY observant guy and brought more than he got credit for.”

Before a third viewer added: “Martin deserved better. He was the best looking and best dressed. Tanyel should have stayed for Casa! Them two together is a vision!”

Love Island continues every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
