Love Islands Amy Hart felt judged as she stops breastfeeding baby Stanley

Amy Hart has opened up about her breastfeeding journey coming to an end with baby Stanley in a candid post on Instagram.

The Love Island star, 30, welcomed a baby boy named Stanley Samuel Giles Rason, with boyfriend Sam Rason in March and has kept fans updated with the ups and downs of being a new mum.

Next to a sweet photo of the family-of-three, where Amy is breastfeeding her newborn son, Amy wrote: “And so the combi feeding journey has come to a natural end.

“I was planning on stopping this week but Stanley wanted so much milk when we were in Spain, my trailing off breast milk was a mere canapé compared to bottles of formula! I’ve combi fed since day 3 when he was poorly in hospital and have never looked back! It was the best thing for us and I would defo do it next time too.

She continued: “I will not miss having to have a nipple shield with me at all times but will miss being able to provide instant comfort. I loved the combi feeding aspect as it’s meant I’ve been able to get enough sleep and Sam, our families and our friends have been able to have that lovely experience of feeding Stanley from the beginning.”

Amy then opened up about her experience breastfeeding, describing how she never really had a schedule, instead seeing breastfeeding as providing “starters, snacks, sides, desserts and light meals with formula being the main event.”

Amy then confessed that she felt “judged” for not exclusively breastfeeding, writing: “Im the kind of person who likes to make the joke or observation first before anyone else and because I hadn’t exclusively breast fed, I was like ‘nah I don’t need to, it’s been a token gesture, like everything in my life a half arsed attempt hahah’ because I felt like I got some judgement for letting my Mum feed him whilst I napped after a long night or did shifts with Sam in the early days.”

However, she rounded off the post by saying how proud she was of her 9 week combi-feeding journey and how glad she was that she had the photoshoot to “commemorate the fact I actually grey my baby’s food.”

Amy added: “For example, we were late to the shoot because I had to boob him ( my new fave verb; to boob) for 25 mins, so it wasn’t THAT much of a token gesture!!

“I suppose what I’m saying is, I’m happy with, glad I did and proud of my 9 weeks combi feeding and if any one tells you they’re ‘gutted for you’ that you had to use formula (as lots of people did with me when I first said I was combi)….tell them to shut up (I wish I had!!!)."
