Love Islands Chris Taylor: Margot Robbie and I chatted about micropenises then got the part in Barbie – it was wild

Chris Taylor, who is starring in the new Barbie movie as Ken, said he got the part after speaking to Margot Robbie about "small penises and big balls".

Chris, 32, first caught the attention of fans when he appeared in series five of Love Island in 2019 – he quickly became one of the funniest stars of all time, with his energetic character and invention of the iconic 'salmon' pool dive.

After leaving the villa after 15 days, he continued to keep fans updated with humorous videos shared with his almost 1 million Instagram followers, and is now starring in the new Barbie movie that was released in cinemas on Friday, 21 July.

Fans were left floored when Chris revealed his new role and it appears the actor himself was just as shocked at landing the part, and thought it was a prank all the way until he saw his "favourite actor of all time," Ryan Gosling, on set.

But how did the former Love Islander secure the role of Ken in the Hollywood film, you may be wondering. Well, it all started at an afterparty where he spoke to Margot Robbie about micropenises and big balls.

Sharing the story of how this all came about, Chris spoke exclusively to OK! and said he attended a premiere with fellow Love Islanders where they were later invited to an afterparty with Margot.

"It was really weird because she knew who we all were," Chris shared.

The Barbie actress has made no secret of the fact she's a huge fan of the ITV2 dating show.

He continued: "She literally came over and gave me a hug and knew my name, it was really weird.

"We sat down and I started talking to her and she is literally the nicest person I've probably ever met in my life."

This was followed by an 'after-afterparty' where Chris went on to speak to Margot about penises, saying that he thinks it was "topical" as someone else was talking about them nearby.

Reflecting back on the seemingly unconventional topic of conversation, the star said: "So I basically went down the route of telling her about my mate who's got a micropenis.

"So I informed her of that, and we had a little chat about micropenises, which was lovely and quite funny.

"And then I went on to tell her about my dad's mate whose balls are so big, he can carry 12 bottles of Budweiser on his ball sack like a tray.

"So I basically just pulled out the big guns, I thought I've got to make an impression and that's what came out of my mouth… unfortunately".

Continuing the remarkable story, he said: "Fast forward about 18 months or so, I got an email from Warner Brothers – which I really checked the email on, as I didn't believe it was real."

The email asked Chris to send in a self-tape for this particular part in Barbie. "They didn't tell me what part it was, they just gave me the line."

With nothing to lose and still thinking it was a prank, he sent it off, only to find out he got the role, which was "amazing" – but he still didn't believe it was real.

The moment it sunk in for Chris was when he turned up at Warner Brothers Studios in London and saw The Notebook star Ryan walk past his car with his "bright blond hair" which is when he thought "Ah yeah, this is probably real then."

Asking Chris if Margot had recommended him for the role, he told us: "I think she must have, because otherwise how exactly did I get in the film?

"So basically, I spoke to Margot about small penises and big balls and then got in a Hollywood film."

"I'm fairly certain that's how it went down, but the only confirmation I've really got is that her husband Tom Ackerley said to me at the premiere that Margot was like: 'We have to get Chris in this film.'"

Trying to describe what it was like on the set of Barbie, the quick-witted star said: "I imagine what it feels like to be a hamster that has just been bought at a pet shop by an eight year old.

"Excitement for the new home, but fear because your primary caregiver is a child."

He went on to add: "It was such a weird thing, I thought the whole thing was a prank, I was not prepared for it."

Filming his scene on set alongside Ryan Gosling, he said "It was by the maddest thing I've done.

"Love Island is mad, but that was just like a different level of intensity, I really enjoyed it but the whole thing was just wild."
