Love Island’s Jess Harding seemed to let her emotions get the best of her last night, as she was seen crying to Mehdi Edno following Sammy Root’s decision to get to know new bombshell Mal Nicol.
Jess and Sammy, both 22, were previously coupled up, but have since been separated and are banned from re-uniting at the next recoupling.
This was after their fellow islanders were asked to vote for who they believed were the two least compatible couples – and it was ultimately Jess and Sammy, as well as Mitchel Taylor, 26, and Leah Taylor, 27, who were chosen.
Following the verdict, Sammy has been chatting to Mal, 25, while Jess has been trying to see if she has a romantic spark with pal Mitchel – but it seems her heart may still be elsewhere.
Mehdi could be seen comforting her last night as she cried about her confusion over her complicated romantic situation.

However, according to Love Island: The Morning After host Sam Thompson, her tears may not have been genuine
Speaking on his podcast with his co-presenter Indiyah Polack and Strictly Come Dancing’s Tyler West earlier today, Sam made a bold claim about the scene.
“When we watched this flirtation prior to the recoupling, not one tear was shed by Jess,” Sam said.

“Not one tear,” he repeated, as Tyler chipped in: “That dry cheek right there.”
“He even wiped the dry cheek!” Indiyah added in reference to Mehdi, as Sam quipped: “Yeah, that was brilliant! It was like sand paper. You’re basically just wiping dry cheek.”
Sam then referenced a past plotline from the show that launched him into stardom, Channel 4’s Made In Chelsea, where his girlfriend Zara McDermott was also accused of “fake crying” by fans.
“It’s like my girlfriend on the park bench when she was crying on Made In Chelsea where everyone was just going: ‘You’re not crying! What’s going on?’” he said, as the other two started laughing.
“I looked at that, and I went: ‘I’ve seen that before!’” Sam insisted, as Tyler joked that the star had been “triggered” by the scene.
Love Island: The Morning After is available to listen to on streaming platforms now.
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
