Love Island star Kaz Crossley is said to have been arrested in Dubai on suspicion of drug offences.
Kaz, 28, who shot to fame on the 2018 series of the popular ITV2 show, was reportedly detained at Abu Dhabi airport where she was in transit for a flight to Thailand.
Her arrest comes after a two year old video of the star snorting a white substance surfaced online, sparking the suspicion that Kaz’s name had been flagged to the United Arab Emirates.
In the clip which is thought to have been filmed in 2020 while the star was holidaying in Dubai, Kaz could be seen bent over a table which had a white substance on it as she appeared to sniff it.
The star was wearing a bright orange mini dress and nude heels with her hair tied back.
According to The Sun, the 28 year old was arrested on Monday, 13 February, and was refused a phone call.
There are strict laws against alcohol and drugs in Dubai and Abu Dhabi where first time offenders face a minimum of three months in jail and a fine between £4,500 and £22,800.
A source told the publication of Kaz’s alleged arrest: “She was looking forward to getting back to Thailand where she has been doing voluntary work and all of a sudden she is languishing in a Dubai jail.
“Everyone knows how strict they are about drugs over there. She must be terrified.
“She had only stopped off in Abu Dhabi to catch a connecting flight but her name has obviously raised a red flag.”
They added that instead of a phone call, Kaz was allowed to send one email to a person of her choice.
A spokesperson for the Foreign Office has since told The Sun: "We are in contact with the local authorities following the arrest of a British national in the United Arab Emirates."
OK! have contacted Kaz’s rep for comment.
Kaz spends a lot of time in Thailand – where she was heading to via Abu Dhabi – where she has opened a school, house and gym for children there after raising £85,000.
Speaking to OK! about it last year, Kaz explained that she travelled down to Isaan in 2021 to help the community after discovering a local Muay Thai boxing club called Wor Watthana.
"I was in Thailand doing the two week quarantine because that was the rules to enter at the time and I had a really nice massive villa I was staying in," she began as she recalled her first trip to the area.
Kaz continued: "I was by myself and I was watching their [Instagram] stories and I just felt guilty almost that I was staying in this amazing villa with a massive pool literally all to myself and I was watching these kids who literally had nothing. So I made the decision to go and visit them as soon as I was done with my quarantine."
The TV personality went on to explain that the combination between her love of Muay Thai, her multicultural background as well as her mum having grown up in poverty fuelled her motivation to "give back to this community".
