MAFS UK shock as two couples decide to leave during tear-filled commitment ceremony

Married At First Sight UK’s second commitment ceremony left castmates emotional as two couples decided to quit the experiment.

Tonight's show saw couples Jess and PJay question whether or not their relationship was worth fighting forbut despite the couple having a fun-filled time during yes week, it still was not enough to take their relationship out of the friendship zone.

Before joining the expert on the sofa, PJay told the boys that he “loved” Jess and that he would “never give up” trying to make their relationship work.

At the second dinner party, Jess then said she wanted someone who she really fancied.

And in a chat with Thomas ahead of the second commitment ceremony, she said: “I just feel like we’re not going anywhere and if I'm honest I'm 50-50 with what I wanna do.”

While speaking to the experts in tonight’s episode PJay said during yes week all he cared about was having a good time during a session of karaoke.

He continued: “This is how it's supposed to feel and it was just like yeah, I wonder what else she's got up her sleeve to make me feel like this.”

Paul C Brunson then ask if they felt the week made their relationship stronger to which Jess responded: “This has been our best week, we’ve always got on but whether or not that's making it more of a relationship or we’re just having fun cos we just love each other’s company, it’s hard to distinguish the difference between it.”

Paul then chimed: “Tell me are you friends or more than friends?"

The awkwardness of that question made the whole room silent as both cast and expert awaited their answer.

But Jess wasted no time and immediately said: “I don't know if it’s just still friends.

“It's difficult for me to see it further than that – if I'm being honest, which is hard to say.”

PJay looked downcast by his wife’s response and when he was quizzed about what he heard he said: “Nobody likes rejection at the end of the day, however, I know I'm not your [Jess] type.”

Jess said she really wanted someone who was really interested in football and someone she could go to the pub and have a pint with.

But Paul interrupted her and said: “Interest means nothing in terms of compatibility but what means everything, is values.”

He then asked the couple if their values aligned and Jess said “yes”.

They were then asked if they felt better with that person than without and Jess made it clear that she would like PJay if they were to be apart from each other.

She was then asked if there was absolutely no physical attraction to PJay and the brunette responded by saying: “There’s nothing there”.

This stunned her co-stars but it was PJay that became teary-eyed as he tried to comfort Jess who fought back her tears.

PJay said he's had sleepless nights thinking about his decision and even though the wedding night and honeymoon were “amazing”, their relationship plateaued.

Jess added: “There’s nothing that you could have done or I could have done, I just can't help it if I'm not feeling that way.”

When it came to making the decision to stay or leave, Jess told PJay how “amazing” she thought he was but ultimately decided to end their marriage.

As she wiped tears from her eyes, she thanked PJay for making it “one of the best experiences” of her life.

However, PJay only wanted to ask Jess one question which was to find out if their relationship was worth fighting for but Jess said “no” and they both called time on their romance.

But they were not the only couple to part ways as Lara and Richie also decided to leave the experiment as the subject of intimacy was causing a divide between them.

Lara, 49, explained that she believed Richie, 51, was simply not the man for her.

Mum-of-one Lara told the experts this was no longer for her and wanted out.

Meanwhile, Richie thought continuing on would be “painful” for the both of them so ending their relationship would be the right thing to do despite feeling “gutted” and upset by their final decision.

He said he thought Lara would be “The One”.

But speaking to the cameras, Lara said: "I wanted sunset walks on the beach and he wanted personal growth."
