This years Married At First Sight UK was one of the most dramatic to date. It was an absolute roller coaster of relationship ups and downs and shock revelations.
Unfortunately, most of the couples on the show didn’t go the distance, unable to overcome the tensions between them. But there’s one duo who’ve powered through, putting the advice from experts Paul C Brunson, Mel Schilling and Charlene Douglas into practice in their everyday lives.
The shows first ever lesbian couple Jenna Robinson and Zoe Clifton were also the only people who came out the other end stronger than ever.
The pair had their fair share of ups and downs, including arguments about veganism and worries over Zoe’s now famous Mr Pickles – a pickled rat she keeps in a jar.
But, having worked through their issues together, they’re now a thriving, fully fledged couple on the outside world“ with Jenna revealing: “We’ve said the L word…”
And, in an exclusive interview, Zoe told us that Mr Pickles is still very much a fixture in her life and how she actually acquired him.
“It’s in the car,” she said. “ It doesn’t usually come travelling with us, but we just filmed something last night and I wanted to take Mr Pickles”
Revealing his origins she told us: “It was a gift, it came pre-pickled. Me and my friend had an agreement at Christmas, we would both buy each other a gift and it had to be the most horrific thing you’ve ever seen.
"Mr Pickles was found at a tattoo convention. I’m not getting rid of it, but I may expand – maybe get a pickled hedgehog and call it Mr Prickles.”
And Jenna is even warming to the rodent saying:
"I think people thought that I would have more of an issue with it than I do, but I’m actually quite chill about it. As long as he’s nowhere near the kitchen, I’m happy.”
And it seems that the couple have also overcome their other big falling out over Veganism.
“I think the whole vegan thing was blown [out of proportion],” said Zoe. “We spoke about it way more than we should have done. But, generally, we basically both eat what we want to eat wherever we go.”
Unfortunately, while all is going well for the pair romantically, Zoe revealed that she has been on the receiving end of online abuse since leaving the show.
“I’ve had homophobic comments. People saying they can’t bear to watch me. The main ones are people saying that I’m ‘disgusting’ or calling me ‘big teeth Zoe’.
“One hilarious comment the other day was, ‘Oh my God, big teeth Zoe. You’re so boring and annoying to watch. So judgmental and disrespectful towards Whitney [Hughes]. Why can’t you keep your ugly mouth [shut]? Every time you and Jenna come on, I switch the channel.
"'To be honest, your behaviour towards Whitney and Matt is borderline bullying. Your hair is so stupid.’ I’ve got a screenshot of it because I took it before blocking them. They’re nasty, but people jump to my defence.”
