Actor Matthew Perry, who shot to fame as Chandler Bing in the popular sitcom Friends, was romantically linked to a number of A list celebs during his life.
The actor, who tragically passed away after 'drowning in his jacuzzi', candidly opened up about these relationships in his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir, which he published just one year before his death.
At age 18, Matthew dated Tricia Fisher, the half-sister of Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher, and the pair later reconnected later while he was filming Friends, however, they then called it quits for a second time.
And then in 1994, he had a brief fling with actress-turned-wellness mogul Gwyneth Paltrow. Later that same year Matthew met television executive Jamie Tarses, whom he began dating for a number of years.
Jamie passed away in 2021, with Matthew later writing in his memoir that she was "the most magical, beautiful, and smart" woman."
Then in 1994 he began dating Julia Roberts, after the pair met while filming an episode of Friends, but after just a few months the pair called it off.
In 2006, Matthew began a relationship with actress Lizzy Caplan, whom he dated for six years before splitting in 2012.
Reflecting on his relationship and split from Lizzy, Matthew wrote in his memoir: "All my fears reared up like a snake. I often think if I'd asked [her to marry me], now we'd have two kids and a house. Instead, I'm some schmuck who's alone in his house at fifty-three."
In 2018 he began a relationship with literary manager Molly Hurwitz, before proposing in November 2020 – however the pair split just a few months later in June 2021.
During his life Matthew was also rumoured to have been romantically linked to Natasha Wagner, the daughter of Natalie Wood and Richard Gregson, Scream actress Neve Campbell, and Cameron Diaz.
The actor candidly opened up to People in 2021 about his relationships, and fear of commitment. He told the outlet: "That was me afraid. That is what I manifest, something that’s wrong with them. And then I break up with them.
"But there can’t be something wrong with everyone. I’m the common denominator. I left first because I thought they were going to annihilate me."
Speaking to the publication he had then added that something had changed and he felt as though he was ready for love and commitment, as he said: "’m not run by the fear I used to be run by so everything’s kind of different.
"I’m feeling more confident and I’m not afraid of love anymore, so the next girl I go out with better watch out."
