Coronation Street actor Sam Aston and his wife Briony recently welcomed their second child, a daughter called Daisy Josephine, into the world.
And now the star and his yoga teacher wife have exclusively introduced their new bundle of joy to OK! alongside a series of exclusive images and shared all the details from her arrival.
From Briony’s water birth in their family living room and choosing Daisy’s moniker, to how their 22 month old son Sonny has been adjusting to his little sister.
Here, the couple open up about life as a family of four and tell us how their daughter is a double of her dad…
Sam and Briony say little Daisy has been a "dream" every since she arrived last month. “Daisy is perfect and she’s as cute as a button," says her Coronation Street actor dad.
The couple say their daughter is the spitting image of her dad as a baby and has also been blessed with a full head of bright red hair just like her father and brother “The bright red hair definitely gives it away,” laughs Briony. “We have a photo of Sam as a baby and she looks exactly like him. They’re identical.” Sam adds: “I can even see it myself!"
Daisy arrived on 10 May at 11:59pm weighing 9lbs 1.5oz in just three hours. Briony tells us: "She weighed 9lbs 1.5oz, which I still can’t believe because me and Sam aren’t big or tall. She was quite big.”
Daisy middle name is Josephine and both her monikers pay tribute to members of Sam and Briony’s family. “She’s Daisy Josephine.," yoga teacher Briony tells us. "Josephine is a nod to Sam’s brother Joe and my grandad Joe. Daisy is also the French name for Marguerite and my mum’s mum is called Margaret, so it was a way to have both grandparents in there.”
Corrie star Sam says they had been a fan of the name Daisy for a while. The 29 year old admits: "We’ve always liked it. It was one of the only names we both agreed on.”
Briony, 27, gave birth to her daugther in a birthing pool in the living room of their family home in Lancashire. “I did want all twinkly lights and music, but then when it got to it I just wanted it to be really silent and I just had a few candles on,” explains Briony, who is the co-owner of The Happy Baby Studio. “I just wanted to hear the sound of the water and listening to my breathing was relaxing enough. I didn’t need anything else and I didn’t have any pain relief. The moment she was born I just remember saying: ‘We did it!’ I was so proud of me and Daisy."
After making a playlist but not using it during Briony’s labour, the pair decided to play a special song soon after their little one’s arrival Briony tells us: "A few minutes later we did put a song on. Sam had his arm around me and we were playing My Girl. It was such a lovely moment.”
Sonny is equally smitten with his little sister and was proudly telling us her name and pointing at his sibling during our exclusive shoot.
