Megan Barton-Hanson has opened up about her emotional Marbella trip, confessing to shedding tears for most of her month-long stay after hoping it would help her overcome a “little slump”.
Taking to Instagram to share her thoughts alongside a slideshow of snaps from her time away, the 29 year old Love Island star posted the caption: "I’ve always been told I have high expectations & I did for this trip…
“Don’t get me wrong I had some fantastic days with the most special people but I genuinely thought I’d return home after the month and be completely happy and refreshed from the little slump I was in.”
Megan said despite it not being the trip she’d hoped for, she has made “some huge realisations.” She added: “Instead I cried out there more than I ever have spent half the trip with eyes looking like I was high. Despite not being 100% happy right now, I have come to some huge realisations.”
She then wrote down a list of realisations which included: “Family is so much more important to me than I ever realised. It’s better to be alone than surrounded by toxic unhappy people. How important real friends are, how beautiful it is to be surrounded by positive, kind, inspiring people.”
She continued: 'There is more important things than having a flat stomach and doing cardio daily. You don’t have to have all the answers RIGHT NOW, be kind to yourself and just try and improve a little each day. Don’t have such ridiculously high hopes (maybe).”
Fans were quick to praise her candidness in the comments with one person writing: “It’s the authenticity for me”, followed by a hands-clapping and blue heart emoji.
Another commented: “This is the nicest post to have read.. Family is everything. And a small circle of true people friends in your life is way better than a bunch of toxic people. Sending you a big hug darling your stunning. Keep your head up high.”
A third also added: “Totally agree xx”
In the accompanying photos, Megan posed for a mirror selfie while showcasing her incredible figure in the one shoulder blue dress with a draped skirt. She styled her long blonde tresses in waves and accessorised with gold heart shaped earrings.
Megan also shared a snap of herself soaking up the sun on the beach while enjoying a cocktail. The TV personality also shared a photo showcasing her spacious villa, alongside several picturesque snapshots of Marbella Old Town.
The trip comes after Megan quit The Big Celebrity Detox at the beginning of the second episode last month, saying she has “so much work to do” on herself.
Meghan shocked her fellow contestants as she said: “It has just been so hard, mentally and physically.”
She continued: “I can’t fully invest in the treatments because I’ve got so much work to do on myself before I can be here. I feel like I’m not ready.”
