Meghan Markle is, indeed, done with acting. In March 2017, E! News reported the former “Suits” star was “ready to be done” with her USA Network series and “acting in general” amid her blossoming romance with now-husband, Prince Harry. “Even before Harry, she was starting to think about transitioning out of acting,” a source told the outlet. “She wants to focus on other worldly endeavors she is passionate about, like her philanthropy.”
Markle, who quit acting in late 2017 after playing paralegal Rachel Zane for seven seasons on “Suits,” addressed why she decided to leave the entertainment industry at that time in a November 2017 interview with BBC. “I don’t see it as giving anything up. I just see it as a change,” she said. “It’s a new chapter. And also keep in mind I’ve been working on my show for seven years. So, we were very fortunate to have that sort of longevity on a series. For me, once we hit the 100 episode marker, I thought, I have ticked this box and I feel really proud of the work I’ve done there and now it’s time to work as a team with you [Harry].”
The Duchess of Sussex revisited the topic of her acting career in her Variety cover story, published Oct. 19, when she was asked if she’d ever consider going back to it. “No. I’m done,” she told the outlet. “I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not.”
