Metallica have earned their first No. 1 on the U.K. Albums Chart in 15 years with 72 Seasons.
The California-based quartet, consisting of James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo, reached the top with their eleventh studio album; outselling the rest of the Top 5 combined.
In all, 72 Seasons marks the heavy metal rock band’s fourth U.K. No. 1 album.
Their previous chart-topping albums are eponymous LP Metallica (1991), Load (1996) and Death Magnetic (2008).
72 Seasons also tops the Official Vinyl Albums Chart, proving the most popular record on wax this week, and lands at No. 1 on the Official Record Store Chart as the week’s most-purchased LP in the U.K.’s independent record shops.
“Number 1 in the UK? Spectacular! We’re grateful. Thank you, UK – we can’t wait to see you,” Metallica band members told Official Charts.
72 Seasons is followed by The Weeknd‘s enduring greatest hits collection The Highlights (2) and Taylor Swift‘s Midnights (3).
