Troubled Michael Barrymore, 71, sparks concern with ‘car crash’ This Morning interview as he slurs his words
Michael Barrymore sparked concern with his appearance on This Morning on Thursday, as he slurred his words and spoke over the presenters on-screen.
The TV star, 71, kicked off the appearance by proclaiming he did not know who hosts Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle were, by stating: ‘I thought it was Alison and the other one, who are you two?’, seemingly referencing Dermot O’Leary.
Viewers flooded Twitter to comment on the ‘car crash’ interview, in which he also mocked Craig’s Irish accent and caused Josie to scold him for speaking while she was attempting to introduce the interview.
Michael, who recently professed he was the ‘busiest and happiest’ he had ever been has been blazing the promo trail with his comeback as a TikTok star and successful theatre director after winning praise for new West End show Laurel and Chaplin.
Despite his apparent glee at his career moves, his latest TV appearance has set tongues wagging, 22 years after his dazzling showbiz career ended after the death of Stuart Lubbock in 2001 following a party at his Essex home.

Michael is co-directing the new production ‘Laurel & Chaplin – The Feud’ at the Cambridge Theatre in London about the rivalry between two of the world’s biggest entertainers, Stan Laurel and Charlie Chaplin.
It will tell the ‘true story of teenage best friends’ whose relationship broke down when silent movie star Chaplin found fame in Hollywood.
