Mick Jagger is back fighting fit as he gives energetic performance with The Rolling Stones at British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park – after missing tour dates due to Covid

Mick Jagger was back fighting fit as he gave an energetic performance with The Rolling Stones at British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park on Saturday night.

The rocker, 78, was joined by band members Ronnie Woods, Keith Richards and Steve Jordan on stage as they delighted thousands of fans.

It comes after the band was forced to cancel a string of their European tour dates last week after Mick tested positive for Covid.

As he hit the stage Mick looked eccentric in a flowery green jacket and silver-studded shirt as he put his hands in the air and go the crowds going. 

Meanwhile Keith, 78, looked every inch the rockstar in a leather jacket and colourful bandana as he took to the guitar.

Ronnie, 75, looked equally as ready for action in a blue jacket, purple shirt and shiny black jeans as they played their iconic music.

Steve Jordan – who is touring with the band following the death of long-standing drummer Charlie Watts – looked chic in a cream blazer suit. 

Earlier this week shared an update with fans after his Covid-19 diagnosis forced The Rolling Stones to postpone two dates on the SIXTY tour.

The rocker insisted he was ‘feeling much better’, and thanked his fans for their well wishes.

Taking to Instagram, Mick said: ‘Thank you all so much for your well wishes and messages the last few days.

‘I’m feeling much better and can’t wait to get back on stage next week! The Amsterdam date has been rescheduled for July 7 and we’ll have news of the new Bern date ASAP.

He signed off: ‘See you soon! Mick’.

It came after The Sympathy For The Devil rockers were last week forced to postpone their Amsterdam concert at the Johan Cruijff Arena on Monday hours before it was set to start after the legendary frontman came down with coronavirus.

Then, the band announced they would no longer play Wankdorf Stadium in Switzerland as planned.

In an update on social media, they said: ‘The Rolling Stones are deeply sorry for this postponement, but the safety of the audience, fellow musicians and the touring crew has to take priority.’

The Stones are playing the first of two nights at American Express presents BST Hyde Park on Saturday, June 25, with another date on July 3.

Announcing the cancellation of the Amsterdam show, Mick and co said: ‘The Rolling Stones have been forced to call off tonight’s concert in Amsterdam at the Johan Cruijff Arena, following Mick Jagger testing positive after experiencing symptoms of Covid upon arrival at the stadium.

‘The Rolling Stones are deeply sorry for tonight’s postponement, but the safety of the audience, fellow musicians and the touring crew has to take priority.

‘The show will be rescheduled for a later date. Tickets for tonight’s show will be honoured for the rescheduled date. Standby for details.’ 

Mick apologised to the band’s Dutch fans, saying on Twitter: ‘I’m so sorry that we’ve had to postpone the Amsterdam show with such short notice tonight.

‘I have unfortunately just tested positive for Covid. We aim to reschedule the date ASAP and get back as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Mick.’

Only those who are fully vaccinated up to their third booster dose are allowed to enter the Netherlands as long as they provide proof of vaccination.

People who have fallen ill with Covid within the last 180 days must demonstrate proof of COVID-19 recovery when entering the Netherlands using the NHS Covid Pass, with the date of issue being more than 11 days ago.

The band recently made their return to the UK stage at the Anfield football stadium.
