One of the images Guy shared was of his mother on her wedding day.
Originally from County Durham, Anne married Royal New Zealand Air Force pilot and RAF test pilot Stuart Pearce.
He died in an aircraft accident in 1975 when Guy was seven years old.
Guy has spoken previously about his close relationship with his mother and sister Tracy, who has a learning disability called Cornelia de Lange syndrome.
During a 2018 interview with The Guardian, he explained how his mother supported his dreams of acting.
He also credited his family for keeping him grounded, saying: “I can’t genuinely go: ‘Yay, fame, great!’ knowing that there are people like my sister and other people who can’t function in the way they want to in the world.
“That keeps things in perspective for me. Fame, to me, is completely out of whack.”
Guy was just 18 when he landed a role in the Australian soap Neighbours. He played Mike Young, who was the best friend of Jason Donovan’s Scott Robinson and his love interest Charlene Mitchell who was played by Kylie Minogue.
He left Ramsay Street in 1989 and went on to enjoy a career in Hollywood, starring in films including LA Confidential, The King’s Speech, Iron Man 3 and The Time Machine.
He reprised his role as Mike in 2022 when he appeared for the show’s final episodes before it was axed by Channel 5. However, the show has found a new home and a revival of Neighbours will be on Amazon FreeVee later this year.
