Netflix fans go wild for new drama film rated 92% on Rotten Tomatoes: ‘I can’t get it out of my head… it’s a masterpiece!’
Netflix fans have been going wild for a new drama film rated 92 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes.
May December starring Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore – which has also received critical acclaim – was released on November 17 before streaming on Netflix on December 1.
The American movie directed by Todd Haynes from a screenplay by Samy Burch is loosely inspired by the story of Mary Kay Letourneau.
The film follows an actress Elizabeth (Natalie) who travels to Georgia to meet and study the life of the controversial woman Gracie Atherton-Yoo (Julianne) she is set to play in a film.
The woman is infamous for her 23-year-old relationship with her husband Joe (Charles Melton) whom she first met as a minor.

Twenty years after their notorious tabloid romance gripped the nation, the married couple buckles under pressure when the actress arrives to do research.
The film was announced in June 2021, with Natalie and Julianne joining the cast and filming took place in mid-2022 around Savannah, Georgia.
It premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival on May 20.
After seeing it fans have been going wild and have taken to Twitter to praise the acting and storyline and in particular Charles’ acting.
One fan said: ‘It’s the next morning after seeing may December (2023) and I can’t get Charles Melton’s performance out of my head.
‘He’s just so good and the film itself is a freaking masterpiece dude.’
Another said: ‘They don’t make movies like may December anymore!’
A third penned: ‘What Charles Melton does in May December is so special, he has to walk such a fine line between child and adult.

Another said: ‘I need to see May December again. (Just watched May December.)’.
Someone else wrote: ‘I need to see may December NOW.’
Charles accepted the Gotham Award for Outstanding Supporting Performance for May December on Monday night.
Elsewhere at the event Past Lives was named Best Feature while Lily Gladstone walked away with the biggest acting honor on the night.
‘It’s such an honor,’ Past Lives writer-director Celine Song said in her acceptance speech, according to Variety.
‘Thank you, Gotham, for this award. It really means the world to receive it with my debut set in New York City, a city I live in and love deeply.’
Song – who was accompanied onstage by the film’s Greta Lee and John Magaro – thanked her collaborators at A24, as well as the cast and crew of the motion picture.
Gladstone won the honors for Outstanding Lead Performance for The Unknown Country, while Melton won Outstanding Supporting Performance for May December.
A Thousand and One director A.V. Rockwell won the Breakthrough Director Award.

Anatomy of a Fall claimed the honors for Best International Feature and Best Screenplay, while Four Daughters won the honors for Best Documentary.
The Netflix series Beef won two awards for Breakthrough Series – Under 40 minutes; and Outstanding Performance in a New Series for Ali Wong.
A Small Light won the honors for Breakthrough Series – Over 40 minutes.
All of Us Strangers, directed by Andrew Haigh, garnered the most nominations with four, but did not win any awards; Past Lives and A Thousand and One each had three.
