Paddy McGuinness has announced his birthday plans are “out of the window” following the breakdown of his marriage.
The actor and Top Gear presenter, who will turn 49 on August 14, took to Instagram to share the sad news.
In his usual comical fashion the star updated fans from home, quipping: “Welcome to this very special edition of shower news: drought edition.”
Paddy covered his dry body in shower gel without turning the water on, and began revealing what he’d planned for his birthday celebrations.
“I tell you what, this sun is gorgeous. Yeah it's red hot but I'm enjoying it,” he shared from his bathroom.
“It’s my birthday this weekend, August 14th, the big 4-9 – but I don't like to talk about it,” he said sarcastically.
Sadly, due to his split from wife Christine, his celebrations may not include his children.
Paddy revealed: “I thought I'd get in the garden with the kids, fill the paddling pool up and whack on the barbie but obviously all that's out the window now.”
Moving swiftly on, the star described his soap covered body as sticky and frightening before revealing the week ahead.
“On Monday I'm back in the studio for Question of Sport so come down and join us to watch the recording – we'll have the air con cranked up all the way so you'll have a lovely time.”
Paddy ended his weekly update with a five-second blast from the cold shower – and it looked less than comfortable!
Fans were shocked to discover the star had ended his 11-year marriage to Christine in July.
Paddy, 48, and Christine, 34, share twins Leo and Penelope, nine, and younger daughter Felicity, six.
The pair officially announced their split in a joint statement, writing: “A while ago we took the difficult decision to separate but our main focus as always is to continue loving and supporting our children.
“This was not an easy decision to make but we’re moving forward as the best parents we can be for our three beautiful children. We’ll always be a loving family, we still have a great relationship and still live happily in our family home together.”
Christine reportedly accused Paddy of flirting with another woman before their split and has since taken a cryptic swipe at her ex.
The former model posted a smiling snap of herself embarking on her solo travels as she was pictured beside her luggage, with the caption: "And suddenly you know. It's time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings."
