Glastonbury: Paul McCartney virtually duets with John Lennon
Paul McCartney shared a rare snap of himself and his wife together to celebrate their 12th wedding anniversary while paying tribute to late Beatles bandmate John Lennon, whose birthday would have fallen on exactly the same day.
The pair tied the knot on October 9 2011, as Paul posted a sweet photo.
“Happy anniversary to my lovely wife, Nancy. Let’s have a great one – Paul,” he shared on his official Twitter (X) account in celebration.
Meanwhile, just hours earlier, Paul used the app in tribute to co-star John Lennon, who would have been 83 yesterday, had he not been gunned down in New York in 1980, with five fatal shots to his back.
“Celebrating the birthday of my wonderful friend and collaborator, @johnlennon,” he wrote affectionately.

The date of Paul’s marriage to Nancy is unusual as it falls on his late bandmate’s birthday.
However, Ultimate Classic Rock published a quote from Paul’s ex-wife Linda McCartney stating that John’s last words to his former bandmate were: “Think about me every now and then, old friend!”
True to that request, it seems Paul has his pal in mind even as he lives it up for his wedding anniversary.
Meanwhile, many of his 4.3 million Twitter fans rushed to the post to congratulate the pair as they reminisced over their nuptials.

@meetingsmonkey attached a photo of himself in a McCartney shirt and wrote: “All the very best to & your wife, Paul. All You Need Is Love!”
@F13Hemelstein chimed in: “Happy Anniversary! May God continue to bless you both and keep you happy.”
Meanwhile, @northshoreface quizzed: “Significance or coincidence you got married on John Lennon’s birthday?”
In a post shared to his website in February this year, Paul admitted that he can’t get enough of romantic occasions and will “completely overdo” the festivities on Valentine’s Day.
“There’s not just one card, there are cards hidden around the room, and sometimes things even spill into the next day — it’s completely silly,” he joked.
“If there’s an excuse to have some fun, I overdo it! At Christmas, I go crazy [too] with the tree lights and fairy lights — totally overdo it.”
Of his wife, whom he married in a private London registry office ceremony, he stated: “I am very proud, in fact, to be ‘The Guy’ there.
“That’s my role as a husband: it’s to be the strength and the romance at the same time.”
