Piers Morgan posed an incendiary tweet directed at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for apparently not yet deciding whether to attend King Charles’s coronation, which falls on the same date as their son Archie’s birthday.
As fans quizzed whether the ex-royals would opt for a birthday party for him in the USA instead of jetting over to Britain to watch Harry’s father being crowned in Westminster Abbey, 58-year-old Piers took to Twitter to give his views.
“If Harry/Meghan ‘still haven’t decided’ if they will grace the Coronation with their vitally important presence, then King Charles must obviously delay it until they can find room in their very busy schedules,” he wrote sarcastically.
Many on Twitter were quick to reply with @CCindyYT7 posting: “If Camilla’s kids and grandkids are going to be out on that balcony, then the second son of Diana damn well better be too.”
Meanwhile, @garywfuller chimed in: “Isn’t this just ridiculous? King Charles is Harry’s father. In my view, not attending the Coronation is tantamount to saying, ‘I’m not a royal, and you’re not my father.'”

@JPS666 responded to Piers’ sarcasm in kind, joking Meghan and Harry were probably “busy with their worldwide privacy tour”.
However, @ClaudiaBoleyn defended the couple, telling Piers: “[Meghan] didn’t want to be your friend (or more), get over it.”
The stir comes after royal commentator Rafe Heydel-Mankoo, who bills himself as “an expert in monarchy, protocol, honours and British traditions,” urged the pair to stop treating the coronation like a “soap opera”.
“Harry and Meghan seem to be confusing the coronation with Coronation Street because this isn’t a soap opera,” he exclaimed on GB News.
“This is a hugely important constitutional and ceremonial event, not just for Britain or the British people, but for all of the Commonwealth realms.”
He also blasted the couple for being “rude” over their failure to make a timely public comment on whether or not they will be at the hotly anticipated event.
“Rather than focusing on what it means to be British and the important role of the coronation in our constitution, we’re instead being distracted by these tedious sort of typical title tattle stories,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Piers revealed this afternoon he has received new hate mail on Twitter, but seemed to be taking it in his stride as he took the troll to task over his spelling.
“Meet Sam. He just left a comment on my Instagram informing me that he can’t wait for me to die,” Piers began.
“Sadly, he’s so thick he can’t spell ‘dumb’ or ‘casket’ which, ironically, is making me laugh so much it may actually kill me,” he exclaimed, adding a few tears of laughter emojis to punctuate his point.
