Prince Harry ‘will return for coronation alone’ as Meghan won’t be ‘brave enough’, says expert

Prince Harry 'will return for King Charles' coronation alone' as his wife Meghan Markle won't be 'brave enough', according to Princess Diana's former Butler, Paul Burrell.

It is not yet known whether The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will attend the historic Coronation on 6 May, although their spokesperson has confirmed that they've been invited.

Tensions between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family, including Prince William and Kate Middleton, are thought to be at an all-time hight following a string of claims made by Harry and Meghan as they attempt to carve out a profitable career away from royal life.

Paul, 64, who was Diana's butler for 10 years up until her death in 1997, said that King Charles has "retained the moral high ground" by inviting the estranged couple to his coronation, but "the ball is well and truly in Harry and Meghan's court".

Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41, are yet to confirm whether they will attend the event, and Paul said: "It's likely to be incredibly uncomfortable for them if they attend, particularly Meghan. Are they prepared to face the music?"

He continued to Closer Magazine: "I don't think Meghan's brave or strong enough to be there – she'd have to look in the eyes of a family she's pushed under the bus.

"But I think Harry may come alone and she's probably told him she won't be able to be by his side with him if he does attend."

Paul also said it will be difficult for Harry to see Queen Consort Camilla at the Coronation as she will be "where his mother could have been".

OK! has contacted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's representative for comment.

Harry didn't hold back in his criticisms of his mother-in-law, Camilla, who he described as the "villain" during his promotional tour for his bombshell memoir, Spare, which was released on 10 January.

Speaking with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Harry, 38, said his step-mother Camilla’s willingness to forge relationships with the British press made her “dangerous” and there would be “bodies left in the street because of that”.

Harry and Meghan now live in a sprawling multi-million dollar mansion in Montecito, California, with their three year old son Archie and daughter Lilibet, 21 months.

Since leaving the royal family, they have signed a number of lucrative million-dollar deals.

Their contract with Netflix, rumoured to be worth $100million, is to produce documentaries, docuseries, feature films, scripted shows and children's programming.

Harry and Meghan appeared in a self-titled six-part documentary released on the streaming service in December, that told "in their words" their love story and how they came to step down from royal duties in 2020.

It was followed by the release of Harry's bombshell memoir, Spare, which hit shelves on 10 January and contained a number of shocking claims about his family, including the allegation that Harry's brother Prince William "physically attacked" him at his UK home in 2019.
