Rebecca Adlington holds service for late baby daughter after miscarriage as she reflects on ‘painful’ time

Rebecca Adlington has shared the details of her late baby daughter Harper's funeral service after heartbreakingly miscarrying last month.

The Olympic swimming champion has gone through an incredibly tough couple of months after learning that her unborn baby had sadly died in her womb after discovering that there was no heartbeat at her 20-week scan.

Opening up to her followers, Rebecca said it had been an incredibly "painful" time for her and the whole family.

Along with a heartbreaking montage on her Instagram page, the swimmer wrote in her caption: "This week we attended a baby service for Harper and whilst it was incredibly emotional, it was also beautifully done and it will stay with us forever.

"Even though these past 6 weeks have been so painful, the support we have received has been amazing.

"Olivia, our Bereavement Midwife has been an angel," Rebecca went on. "The counselling from @petalscharity has been such a huge help and has already made a big difference and then the constant support of @wezdadmattersuk in just being there has been incredible.

"The kindness and love from our family and friends, and all the messages/comments we’ve received have meant more than people will ever realise or know. Thank you," the star added.

Rebecca's montage included the joyous moments when she and her husband Andy Parsons, whom she shares her youngest child Albie with, found out the happy news they were expecting another baby together.

The journey continued to show the couple telling Summer, Rebecca's daughter from her previous marriage to swimmer Harry Needs, and then the terrible news that they'd lost their baby.

Fans and friends took to the comments to share their support for the star, as one person encouraged: "I have so much love for you all! You’re stronger than you know xxx"

"I'm so sorry you have all had to navigate such a difficult time," another follower wrote.

"Harpers little hands will be imprinted on your heart forever. Sending huge hugs and I'm so sorry you have to go through this. Thinking of you all xx."

"Sending you all so much love," a third person said.

A fourth fan shared: "Having also been through this your doing incredible ! Sending strength and love xx"

While another person posted: "Sending you all so much love and light"
