Now And Then – The Last Beatles Song official trailer
Ringo Starr admitted it felt as if John Lennon was in the studio during the emotional recording.
The Beatles will release what is said to be their last ever song this week, pieced together from recordings spanning more than four decades.
But the record Now and Then would not have been possible without the help of artificial intelligence (AI).
Ringo told Radio Times: “[Paul] called me up and said he’d like to work on Now and Then, what do you think? I think it’s great.
“So he put the bass on, he sent the files to me, I put the drums on. It was the closest we’ll ever come to having him back in the room so it was very emotional for all of us.
“It was like John was there, you know. It’s far out.”

Sir Paul McCartney revealed the record had been abandoned and “left to languish in a cupboard” as they didn’t have the technology to separate Lennon’s voice from his piano accompaniment.
With the help of director Peter Jackson, who worked on the Beatles documentary series Get Back in 2021, was able to separate the group’s vocals.
Now and Then has been edited together from a recording of the late Lennon playing piano and singing at his home in New York in 1979.
The endeavour was previously called off due to poor sound quality, but now new recordings made earlier this year of McCartney and Ringo have been added.
