Robbie Williams Issues Update Over Concerning Posts On ‘Self-hatred’ And Body Dysmorphia
Robbie Williams left fans feeling worried after speaking candidly about his feelings of “self-loathing”, as he gave an insight into his battle with body dysmorphia.
However, the Take That icon has now said that he is feeling “really good” at the moment, explaining that some of his more concerning words were written 18 months ago.
Robbie took to his story to speak about the posts, which were usually accompanied by drawings from the star, in a video message addressed to his 2.7 million Instagram followers.
“Hi everybody,” he began. “Just thought I’d give you a proper update. So, it has been brought to my attention that some people have been worried about me because of the captions with my art.
“But I wanted to let you know I’m really good, really well, really happy,” he continued.

“My intention for these drawings was just to give a bit of a smile to the mind, but then people were responding really lovely to the captions.
“And you know – tragedy plus time equals comedy. Once you have to explain the comedy, it’s just the tragedy.”
Robbie then went on to explain his artwork in more depth, referring to yesterday’s piece, which was simply a blue sky with some text that read: “Once I was stripped of my last bit of dignity, I was surprised by how little I needed it.”
“I wrote those words about 18 months ago,” Robbie revealed before speaking about another post that was captioned: “My ideal goal weight is people being worried about me.”

Beside the drawing posted three days ago, he had written in the caption: “I could write a book about self-loathing where my body image is concerned. Like pure self-hatred. The ugliness of feeling ugly.
“I’m body dysmorphic and on top of being dysmorphic at times, I can be 40+ pounds overweight.
“So you can imagine what my mind sees or maybe you can’t either way it’s a f***ing disaster.”
Speaking in the video, Robbie said of the artwork: “These are just sands that pass, you know, I don’t spend all of my time in these thoughts or in this energy.
“I’m very happy, very happy. But there’s stains, you know, there’s inevitable stains and not every day can be joyous and full of wonder.
“Most days are just ok and that’s brilliant, but I just thought I’d let you know because it’s all good.
“Just trying to exercise and explain this very human malady,” he added, before signing off: “Alright folks, lots of love, bye.”
