Sam Thompson has opened up on his five year relationship with Zara McDermott, as he admitted they've had their ups and downs – but now they're stronger than ever.
At 31 years old, the former Made in Chelsea star has made the transition from TV personality to a bonafide celebrity in his own right, having presented Love Island: Aftersun this summer and creating funny social media videos that generate millions of views.
Naturally, it has left brands clamouring to work with him, but his latest collaboration with Costa Coffee is close to his heart – as he's teamed up with them to launch their brand new Autumnal coffee, Maple Hazel.
When Sam sits down for an exclusive chat with OK!, he's fresh from a run in the sunshine, and despite his huge celebrity status, there's no airs and graces as he displays the kind of warmth that has earned him millions of fans.
Sam was able to get his creative juices flowing for his latest campaign with Costa Coffee, which encourages people to ‘break up’ with the popular Pumpkin Latte flavour and ‘move on’ to Maple Hazel Latte instead.
In his usual hilarious style, Sam chose to create a video which saw him and Zara, 26, sitting on a park bench in London as they talked about 'breaking up', before it became apparent that they were talking about coffee.
Made in Chelsea fans will recognise the scene from 2020, when a tearful Zara begged Sam for forgiveness after being unfaithful to him when she appeared on The X Factor: Celebrity in 2019, after which they split.
But the pair reunited and they've moved on, with Sam gushing about his girlfriend of five years during his chat with OK!.
He told us: "I don't think time apart makes you stronger or weaker. I just think it's a journey. I don't think put a finger on like different times of relationships. They're all part of the same journey.
"Every relationship has a story, and mine and Zara's, like everyone's, has had ups and downs, but it's all part of our story."
Sam doesn't hold back on the reasons he loves Zara – who is starring on Strictly Come Dancing this autumn.
"Firstly, she's very family orientated, which is so important to me," he said. "She tries really hard with my mum and my sister Louise, which I think is really sweet and it means a lot to me.
"The main thing I would say though, is that she is so incredibly driven and I am really attracted to that.
"I don't care where you work or what you do, I just want you to love what you do. That to me is so cool.
"Zara has all of these dreams and ambitions, and I know she's not going to change any of that to suit someone else and I really like that."
He continued: "With Zara, I love that there's no codependency whatsoever. I have to benefit her life, and she has to benefit my life. And I like to think we do that really well."
And does he see children in their future?
"Not in the immediate future," he tells us. "I want kids eventually, but when you have them, you have to give them your whole life, and I'm not ready for that yet.
"Myself and Zara are both so busy doing things that we absolutely adore, and we are just enjoying life at the moment. I want to be selfish for a little bit longer."
Sam is encouraging coffee fans to trade in Costa Coffee's traditional Pumpkin Latte for the Maple Hazel Latte, as we move into the autumn months.
He says: "Autumn is just around the corner and it's that time of year to put on your jumper and get cosy – but level it up with the new Maple Hazel Latte from Costa Coffee.
"It's got maple syrup and roasted hazelnut, and it's topped with crunchy biscuit – what's not to love?"
Sam Thompson is teaming up with Costa Coffee to launch its Maple Hazel range this autumn.
