Sharon Stone recalls her near death experience after brain bleed
Basic Instinct star Sharon Stone has spoken out about the aftermath of her stroke and how it affected her job as an actress.
The 65-year-old suffered from a nine-day brain haemorrhage and “a very debilitating stroke” back in 2001 when she was 43.
Following this, the Casino star had no choice but to take a break from the big screen in order to recover.
That period, however, took longer than she hoped as she could not remember her lines.
She said: “I didn’t recover quickly, I it took years for me to recover.

“But when I couldn’t come back, because I couldn’t remember my lines, and I couldn’t function for quite some time, I was pretty much shoved to the back of the line,” she recalled.
Speaking on the Who’s Talking To Chris Wallace?, she added: “Once you’re in the back of the line, getting back to the front of the line isn’t about whether you made a lot of blockbusters and billions of dollars for your industry.
“It’s you don’t really matter anymore. I don’t know if abandoned is really the correct word. But I felt that I lost my film family.”
Sharon got back on her feet and returned to the acting world in 2003 playing Sheila Carlisle in The Practice.
For her performance, she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.

The actress has since gone on to get many other film credits under her belt.
Last year, she portrayed Lisa Bowden in The Flight Attendant and is starring as Linda Tarlton in What About Love.
The latter is also set to be released next year.
Aside from acting, Sharon returned to her love for painting during the Covid pandemic and has since been sharing some of her work online.
Earlier this year, she proudly put on her first solo gallery exhibition in Los Angeles.
Many have praised her paintings in posts shared on her Instagram page, where she has 3.4 million followers.
Just yesterday, she posed in a T-shirt smiling in front of her Cumulus Joy painting.
She followed up her post with a colourful 4×4 canvas, which sparked mixed reviews from her fans.
