Skyler Samuels is opening up about portraying the late Gabby Petito in the upcoming movie The Gabby Petito Story.
The 28-year-old actress will play the travel blogger in the Lifetime movie, which premieres this weekend.
In a new interview, Skyler shared it was overwhelming being asked to take on the role.

“When I was presented with the opportunity to portray Gabby I was admittedly quite overwhelmed and it was a hard decision to make,” she told ET. “It’s a big responsibility to play someone who was alive.”
“I also felt it was a chance to give Gabby a voice in her own story that I don’t think the media did justice with,” Skyler continues. “I think we, as a consumer media culture, came in at the tail end of a much more complicated story and so Gabby’s life is much more than the headlines that we read when all of these tragedies started to occur and I just think she deserves better.”
She adds, “The world should know that she was a fighter and she was fierce and there’s a lot more to her than initially displayed.”
The Gabby Petito Story “will explore Gabby and her fiancé Brian Laundrie’s complicated relationship and what may have gone wrong during their cross-country trip that resulted in Gabby’s tragic murder.”
Evan Hall also stars, as Gabby’s boyfriend Brian Laundrie and Thora Birch as her mom. Thora also directed.
The Gabby Petito Story will premiere THIS Saturday (October 1) at 8pm ET/PT on Lifetime. Watch the trailer here…
